High Performance Trickle Shower or Bakki Shower Module for the 80/100 XXL Combi System
The Filtreau Excellent Combi Drum 80/100 XXL Trickle is a high capacity biological shower add on designed exclusively for the Filtreau Excellent Combi Drum 80/100 XXL base system. It does not operate as a standalone filter. Instead, it integrates directly with the 80/100 XXL Combi unit to increase oxygenation and biological efficiency.
Often referred to as a Bakki shower, this style of filtration allows water to cascade over specialised media trays. As the water moves downward, it absorbs oxygen and releases unwanted gases. Consequently, biological bacteria operate in a highly efficient environment.
This module is available in two versions. The standard chassis version carries part number FS883. The inline chassis version carries part number FS886. Therefore, you must match the correct version to your existing 80/100 XXL configuration.
High Oxygen Biological Performance
After mechanical separation inside the 80/100 XXL drum stage, water flows upward into the trickle section. From there, it spreads evenly across the shower trays. As it cascades downward, it makes continuous contact with air.
Because of this constant exposure, dissolved oxygen levels increase significantly. In turn, nitrifying bacteria convert ammonia and nitrite more efficiently. As a result, water parameters remain more stable under heavy feeding regimes.
Unlike submerged biological chambers, a trickle or Bakki shower continuously refreshes oxygen supply. Consequently, bacteria remain highly active and resilient. This makes the system particularly effective for heavily stocked koi ponds.
For maximum performance, we recommend high quality Far Infrared shower media. This media promotes rapid bacterial colonisation. In addition, it improves gas exchange and enhances overall water clarity.
Designed for High Load Large Scale Installations
The 80/100 XXL Combi base system supports flow rates of up to approximately 100000 litres per hour. Therefore, this trickle add on suits large koi ponds typically between 120000 and 150000 litres, depending on stocking levels.
Because the module strengthens biological processing rather than mechanical separation, it is especially valuable where:
