Pond Pump and Filter Kits
Matched equipment makes installation easier—but pond size still needs checking
Buying a pump and filter as a set removes one of the most common mistakes in pond equipment: pairing a large filter with a pump that cannot deliver enough water, or fitting a powerful pump that pushes water through the filter too quickly. Our kits range from compact Oase BioPress and BioSmart packages to FiltoClear, ScreenMatic, Evolution Aqua Nexus and Oase ProfiClear systems.
The smaller sets are intended for conventional garden ponds and arrive with the principal pump, filter and UVC equipment already matched. Larger koi and professional packages add higher-capacity solids removal, biological filtration and dedicated aeration. They are complete in the sense of the main equipment, not necessarily every metre of pipe, valve, drain and electrical accessory required on site.
Pressure filter or gravity return?
A pressure-filter kit can be hidden and return water to a raised waterfall. An open BioSmart, Nexus or modular drum system needs the correct gravity levels and usually more space, but offers easier access and more filtration capacity. We help customers choose the installation style first, because buying the wrong shape of filter is harder to fix than changing a pump size.
A quick warning about the products shown here
This category has historically also contained a small number of pump strainers and service accessories. Open the individual listing and check the product title before ordering. The main category guidance applies to complete pond filtration kits, not replacement baskets or specialist water-testing tubing.

Pond pump and filter kits to compare
A kit simplifies compatibility, but it still needs to match pond volume, fish load, lift and pipework. Compare these complete sets as systems rather than choosing only from the largest printed pond rating.
Choosing a Pump and Filter Package
For small ornamental ponds
BioPress and the smaller BioSmart sets are the simplest route. They combine circulation, filtration and UVC clarification without turning the garden into a plant room.
For medium ponds and raised returns
FiltoClear OC sets provide pressurised returns and an integrated cleaning mechanism, while larger BioSmart sets provide accessible gravity filtration. The right choice depends on layout and fish load, not appearance alone.
For koi and high waste loads
Nexus 220+ and 320+ complete packages add the matched Varipump, EvoUV and Airtech equipment needed around the main filter. ScreenMatic sets automate coarse-solids removal, while ProfiClear Premium XL moves into modular drum-filter territory.
What is still needed?
Plan pipe diameter, isolation valves, non-return valves where appropriate, bottom drains or pump intake, return positions, waste discharge and safe electrics. A kit reduces compatibility guesswork; it does not replace an installation plan.
Our independent recommendation
Tell us the true volume, fish, feed, available space and preferred maintenance routine. We will help compare packages and will not push you towards a complex drum system when a simpler filter will genuinely do the job.

Pond Pump and Filter Kits FAQs
What normally comes in a pond pump and filter kit?
Most include the main filter, a matched pump and a UVC. Some include hose; larger koi packages may include an air pump and other dedicated equipment.
Are kits cheaper than buying separately?
They can offer good value, but the main benefit is compatibility. Compare the exact contents rather than assuming every set includes the same parts.
Can a pressure-filter kit feed a waterfall?
Yes, within the filter pressure and pump performance limits. Include the lift and pipe resistance when sizing the return.
Why are a few accessories mixed into this category?
Historic product assignments have placed some related pump and service parts here. Check the individual product type before ordering.
Which kit is easiest to hide?
A compact pressure-filter set is normally easiest to bury or screen, while keeping the lid and controls accessible.
Which kits suit koi?
Look at the Nexus, ScreenMatic and ProfiClear packages, then size them from fish and feed load rather than ornamental-pond ratings.
Can you tell me what pipework I need?
Yes. We need the chosen kit, pond layout, distances, lift and intended return points.
Should I use the maximum pond-size rating?
Treat it as a best-case reference. Fish load, feeding, sunlight, depth and maintenance all affect the sensible working size.
What is the difference between mechanical and biological filtration?
Mechanical stages remove solids. Biological stages provide oxygenated surfaces for bacteria that process ammonia and nitrite. A good pond system normally needs both.
How long does a new biological filter take to mature?
There is no single date. Temperature, pH, oxygen and food load all matter, so test ammonia and nitrite while the system settles.
Will a bigger filter cure green water?
Not necessarily. Green water is usually dealt with by a correctly sized and maintained UVC working with suitable filtration and flow.
How often should pond filters be cleaned?
Clean according to restriction and waste load rather than a rigid calendar. Mechanical stages need attention before they choke; biological media should be handled more gently.
Can I wash biological media with tap water?
Avoid heavily chlorinated water on established biological media. Use the cleaning method recommended for the exact filter and media.
Does the filter need to run continuously?
For a stocked pond, biological filtration and circulation are normally continuous during the active season. Follow the equipment and winter-management instructions.
Can you check whether a filter will suit my pond?
Yes. We will want the real pond volume, fish stock, feeding, existing pipework, pump position and preferred maintenance routine.
