Pond Fountain Pumps for Small Features, Formal Jets and Large Displays
Choose the pump around the water effect you want to see
A fountain pump is not selected from pond volume in the same way as a filter pump. The starting point is the finished display: the nozzle or outlet, the required height and width, and how much water must reach it after lift and pipe resistance. We stock several very different Oase fountain-pump families because a small statue, a classic spray pattern and a ten-metre commercial jet do not need the same type of pump.
For a complete fountain with interchangeable spray heads, the Oase Aquarius Fountain Set Classic and Fountain Set Eco models are the straightforward choice. For statues, spring stones, clear-water waterfalls and bespoke outlets, the Aquarius Universal Premium range provides quiet, mechanically adjustable performance. The newer Aquarius Eco Premium range adds CORE 6 motor technology, electronic adjustment and Oase Control compatibility for medium to large decorative fountains.
When the feature becomes a serious engineering job
The Aquarius Eco Expert family is built for high-output jets, dynamic water patterns and demanding professional displays. Models listed on our site reach up to 44,000 litres per hour and more than ten metres of maximum head. At that scale, nozzle data, wind, reservoir capacity, pipe bore and control equipment all matter.
Our practical way of sizing a fountain pump
We first identify the exact outlet and the effect it needs. We then add the vertical distance from the operating water level to the outlet, the length and diameter of the pipe, and the restriction from bends and valves. Only then do we look at the pump curve. This approach is less glamorous than choosing the largest number on the page, but it is how you avoid a weak display or a pump that spends its life throttled back.

Understanding the Oase Fountain Pump Ranges
Fountain Set Classic and Fountain Set Eco
These are the most convenient choices when you want a recognisable pond fountain without designing every component separately. The pump and compatible fountain equipment are intended to work together, making them well suited to garden ponds and straightforward spray displays.
Aquarius Universal Premium
Available here from 3,000 to 12,000 litres per hour, Universal Premium pumps are quiet clear-water pumps for statues, modern waterfalls and larger decorative features. They can be installed submerged or dry and adjusted mechanically. We favour them where simple, dependable operation matters more than app control.
Aquarius Eco Premium
The latest Eco Premium family bridges the gap between conventional feature pumps and the larger Eco Expert range. Oase combines smooth, efficient CORE 6 technology with digital control, Dynamic Function Control, submerged or dry installation and protection against blocking or dry running. The 4500, 6500, 9500, 13500 and 16500 models make the range especially useful for medium and larger features.
Aquarius Eco Expert
Eco Expert pumps are for high heads, large nozzles and controllable displays. The 22000, 28000, 36000 and 44000 mains models have a stainless intake basket, Oase Control connection and Dynamic Function Control. There is also a specialist 20000 12V option where an approved low-voltage solution is required.
Talk to an independent pond specialist before ordering
We are happy to work from a sketch. Send the nozzle or blade, required height, lift, pipe run and preferred control method. We will tell you which family deserves attention and, just as importantly, when a cheaper pump is the better fit.

Pond Fountain Pumps FAQs
What is the difference between a fountain pump and a filter pump?
A fountain pump is designed around clean-water pressure and a visible display. A filter pump is designed to move pond water and suspended debris to filtration efficiently.
Which pump is best for a small classic pond fountain?
An Oase Aquarius Fountain Set is usually the easiest place to start because the pump and spray equipment are designed as a set.
Which range suits a statue or spring stone?
Aquarius Universal Premium is a strong choice for quiet, clear-water operation, especially where the feature needs a little more pressure than a compact pump can provide.
What is CORE 6 technology?
It is Oase’s newer motor technology used in the Aquarius Eco Premium range to improve efficiency and smooth running compared with the previous generation.
Which range supports large dynamic fountains?
Aquarius Eco Expert is the specialist high-performance family for large, controllable and dynamic displays.
Do I need to choose the fountain nozzle first?
Ideally, yes. The nozzle data tells us the flow and pressure needed to create the intended pattern.
Can one pump run a fountain and a separate waterfall?
Sometimes, but independent circuits are often easier to balance and maintain. We would check the combined duty before recommending one pump.
Why is the flow at my feature lower than the number on the pump?
The headline flow is measured at very little resistance. Height, pipe length, bends, valves and the nozzle all reduce the flow that reaches the outlet.
Should I deliberately buy a much larger pump?
For Pond Fountain Pumps, a little adjustment margin is useful, but excessive oversizing wastes energy and can make the display difficult to control. We size from the pump curve and the finished pipe run.
Does pipe diameter really make much difference?
Yes. Undersized pipe can throw away a surprising amount of a pump’s performance, especially on longer runs or higher-flow installations.
Can I restrict the flow with a valve?
A valve can trim some installations, but an approved variable-speed or electronic control is usually the neater option when the pump supports it.
Can the pump be installed dry?
Only models explicitly approved for dry installation should be used that way, and the suction arrangement must remain flooded and airtight.
What should I clean on a water-feature pump?
Keep the intake, rotor area and any pre-filter clear. A gradual loss of display height is often the first sign that the intake or pipework needs attention.
Can a fountain pump run all winter?
Follow the model instructions. Some Oase ranges are frost-resistant when left submerged, but exposed pipework, nozzles and shallow features still need sensible winter planning.
Can you help me choose between two models?
Yes. Send us the required display, lift height, pipe length and pipe size. Those details are far more useful than pond volume alone.
