High performance ceramic Bakki shower media designed to maximise biological filtration and improve pond water clarity.

Burtons Far Infrared Shower Media 16kg is a high performance ceramic filtration media designed for use in Bakki showers, trickle filters and multi bay pond filtration systems. Each ceramic piece is manufactured using a blend of minerals and high quality ceramic materials which are fired at extremely high temperatures. This process creates a highly porous structure which supports large colonies of beneficial bacteria.

High Efficiency Biological Filtration

Biological filtration is essential for maintaining clean and healthy pond water. As fish produce waste and organic debris breaks down, harmful compounds such as ammonia and nitrite are released into the pond. Beneficial bacteria colonise the surface of filtration media and convert these compounds into less harmful substances. As a result, water quality improves and the pond environment becomes more stable for fish.

Each piece of Burtons Far Infrared Shower Media provides a large surface area for bacterial colonisation. The porous ceramic structure allows water and oxygen to move freely through the media. This encourages strong bacterial growth and highly efficient biological filtration.

This media is particularly effective in Bakki shower filters where water cascades across the media trays. The constant exposure to oxygen rich water helps beneficial bacteria remain highly active. Consequently, the filtration system can process large amounts of waste quickly and efficiently.

Burtons Far Infrared Shower Media works exceptionally well when combined with Burtons Bio Block Media within a Bakki shower system. Many pond keepers install Bio Block media in one tray and Far Infrared Shower Media in another tray. This combination increases biological diversity within the filter and improves overall filtration performance.

For most Bakki shower systems, approximately 1 to 1.5 boxes of media will sufficiently fill a single shower tray depending on the tray size and layout.

Burtons Far Infrared Shower Media is specifically designed for highly aerated filtration systems such as Bakki showers and trickle filters.

As water flows over the ceramic media, oxygen rich water continuously passes across the surface of the bacterial colonies. This environment allows nitrifying bacteria to remain highly active. Consequently, ammonia and nitrite are converted quickly and efficiently.

Because the media is lightweight and porous, water spreads evenly through the filter trays. This improves oxygen exposure and increases biological filtration performance.

Highly Porous Ceramic Structure

Each piece of Burtons Far Infrared Shower Media is produced using a blend of minerals and ceramic materials which are fired at extreme temperatures.

This process creates a highly porous internal structure which provides an excellent environment for beneficial bacteria. The pores allow water and oxygen to move freely throughout the media while providing protected areas for bacterial colonies to develop.

As a result, the media supports both nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria which play a key role in maintaining stable pond water quality.

Ideal for Multi Tier Bakki Shower Systems

Burtons Far Infrared Shower Media is ideal for use within multi tier Bakki shower filtration systems.

The ceramic media allows water to cascade through the trays while maintaining excellent oxygen exposure. This greatly improves the efficiency of the biological filtration stage.

For best results, many pond keepers combine this media with Burtons Bio Block Media across different trays in the shower filter. This combination provides a varied structure which encourages different bacterial colonies to develop.
