High Oxygen Bakki Shower Upgrade for the Filtreau 60/80 Combi System

The Filtreau Excellent Combi Drum 60/80 Trickle Add On is a high performance biological shower module designed exclusively for the Filtreau Excellent Combi Drum 60/80. It is not a standalone filter. Instead, it installs directly onto the 60/80 combi system to increase oxygenation and expand biological capacity in demanding koi pond environments.

This upgrade transforms the standard 60/80 combi drum into a high oxygen, high efficiency filtration system. As a result, it supports heavier stocking densities, higher feeding levels and improved long term water stability.

Because of its vertical cascading design, many pond keepers also refer to this type of unit as a Bakki shower.

Increased Oxygenation Through Trickle Filtration

As water exits the drum stage of the Combi 60/80, it flows over the shower trays and cascades down through the biological media. During this process, the water is exposed to large volumes of air. Consequently, dissolved oxygen levels rise significantly throughout the system.

Higher oxygen levels benefit koi health directly. Fish display improved growth, stronger immune response and better overall vitality. In addition, beneficial nitrifying bacteria work more efficiently in oxygen rich conditions. Therefore, ammonia conversion becomes faster and more stable.

For larger koi ponds running higher flow rates, this extra oxygenation can make a noticeable difference.

Expanded Biological Capacity

The 60/80 trickle add on increases the total biological surface area available within the system. This allows the filtration capacity to scale with stocking density and feeding intensity.

Media is supplied separately. However, we strongly recommend using high performance shower media such as Far Infrared media for maximum nitrification efficiency and gas exchange performance.

Because water passes over the media rather than through a submerged chamber, ammonia processing improves while unwanted gases are released more effectively. As a result, overall water clarity and system stability improve over time.
