A matching trickle stage for the conventional Excellent 50/70
The FS874 is the trickle add-on for the conventional Excellent 50/70 Gravity and 50/70 Pump Fed. It provides an additional media stage after mechanical cleaning, rather than replacing the drum or its internal biological sections.
Its manufacturer reference is WMC22CDT. The body measures 980 × 320 × 805 mm, so leave room for the housing, support and access to the top distribution area when planning the filter installation.
Give the shower its own flow plan
Maximum flow is 25,000 litres/hour through the 63 mm feed. Both matching base filters can operate above that figure, so the shower should not automatically receive the entire main-filter flow. A separately controlled branch or bypass can maintain circulation while keeping the shower within its limit.
Adding more pump power does not make a restricted shower perform better. Check the distribution, media loading and discharge route, including any extra lift required to supply the module.
Biological media and maturation
Choose suitable shower media and arrange it to allow water to spread across the bed. The mechanical stage should remove solids first, reducing the debris reaching the biological surfaces. Avoid a tightly packed load that sends most of the water down a few easy paths.
New media takes time to develop its bacterial population. Continue ammonia and nitrite testing as feeding changes rather than treating the purchase of a module as immediate extra feeding capacity. Loose media or cartridges for the base combi are separate products with different roles.

Installation and maintenance
Allow for wet weight, a free-running outlet and access for cleaning the distribution section. Keep splash and seasonal cooling in mind when deciding whether the shower will be exposed or sheltered.
For a 60/80 XL base, choose the 60/80 trickle module. For the narrower 50/65 Inline XL, use the Inline-specific shower rather than selecting by the similar capacity numbers alone.
