Inline Bakki Shower Upgrade Module for the 80/100 XXL Combi Inline System
The Filtreau Excellent Combi Drum 80/100 XXL Trickle Inline is a high capacity biological shower add on designed exclusively for the Filtreau Excellent Combi Drum 80/100 XXL Inline base system. It does not operate as a standalone filter. Instead, it integrates directly with the elongated inline chassis to increase oxygenation and biological processing efficiency.
In the koi industry, this style of filtration is often referred to as a Bakki shower. It uses cascading trays to expose water to air while it passes over specialised media. As a result, dissolved oxygen increases and beneficial bacteria convert ammonia and nitrite more efficiently.
This Inline Trickle module carries part number FS886 and must be paired with the 80/100 XXL Inline Combi base unit. It is not compatible with the standard chassis version.
High Oxygen Biological Performance
After mechanical separation inside the 80/100 XXL Inline drum stage, water flows into the trickle shower trays. It spreads evenly across each level and then cascades downward.
Because the water continuously contacts air, oxygen absorption increases significantly. At the same time, unwanted gases such as carbon dioxide dissipate. Consequently, biological performance improves and water parameters stabilise more quickly.
Unlike submerged biological chambers, a Bakki shower style system refreshes oxygen supply on every pass. Therefore, bacteria remain highly active even under heavy feeding regimes.
For best results, we recommend using high quality Far Infrared shower media. This type of media promotes rapid bacterial colonisation while supporting efficient gas exchange and improved water clarity.
Designed for Large High Flow Inline Systems
The 80/100 XXL Inline Combi base unit supports flow rates of up to approximately 100000 litres per hour. Therefore, the Inline Trickle add on is suited to large koi ponds typically between 120000 and 150000 litres, depending on stocking density and feeding levels.
Because this module enhances biological capacity rather than mechanical separation, it is particularly valuable where:
- Stocking density is high
- Feeding levels are intensive
- Maximum oxygenation is required
- Long term water stability is critical
The elongated inline format allows installation along narrow filter bays or wall mounted systems where width is restricted.
