Add a matched shower stage to the Excellent 20/25 Low
The FS856 trickle add-on is made for the Excellent 20/25 Low Gravity and 20/25 Low Pump Fed filter family. It provides an additional biological stage, with filtered water distributed over suitable shower media before returning through the planned outlet route.
The module is an accessory, not a complete drum filter. Its 660 × 320 × 822 mm body needs to be allowed for alongside the base filter, support and the clearance needed to access the distribution section.
What an extra trickle stage can contribute
Water passing over media in contact with air gives beneficial bacteria another place to establish. It can be useful when developing the biological side of an existing system, but it needs clean feed water from the mechanical stage and time to mature.
Choose suitable shower media separately. Loose moving-bed Hel-X and a Japanese-matting cartridge are not automatic substitutes for a properly arranged shower-media bed. Keep the water distribution even and avoid packing the module so tightly that water finds only a few channels through it.
Respect the shower's own flow limit
Maximum flow through this add-on is 20,000 litres/hour, with a 63 mm feed. The gravity-fed 20/25 drum can pass more than that, so its entire flow should not automatically be routed through the shower. Design a controlled branch or bypass where necessary.
The Low name belongs to the base filter; adding a shower adds height. Check roof clearance, pipe access and the effect of any extra lift on pump output before buying the accessory.

Installation and care
Support the module and its wet media appropriately rather than relying on the feed pipe to carry its weight. Leave access to the distribution area for cleaning, maintain the free discharge and account for splash and seasonal cooling when choosing its position.
For a different base model, choose its own matched module: the 25/30 Low trickle and standard 25/30 trickle have different manufacturer references despite similar names.
