The Filtreau Excellent Combi Drum 30/40 Low Version Pump Fed Inline is a high capacity combi drum filtration system designed for pump fed pond installations where vertical clearance is limited. However, it still delivers strong biological performance for demanding koi systems.

Featuring a long narrow inline footprint, this model is ideal for installation in tight filter bays positioned alongside garden walls or within dedicated chambers. Because of its elongated body design, it fits where wider drum filters would not.

With overall dimensions of approximately 1935mm x 590mm x 750mm, the unit offers a generous internal capacity while maintaining a low build height of just 750mm. As a result, it suits restricted width areas without compromising performance.

This model is specifically designed for koi ponds up to approximately 40000 litres, depending on stocking levels. In pump fed configurations, it supports flow rates of up to approximately 30000 litres per hour. Therefore, it performs well in high turnover systems and larger koi installations.

High Efficiency Mechanical Filtration with Integrated UV

At the centre of the system sits a 400mm x 400mm stainless steel drum fitted with a precision 120 micron screen. This fine mesh removes suspended solids before they reach the biological chamber. Consequently, the system protects the bio stage and improves long term filtration stability.

When debris restricts flow, the stainless steel float switch activates the automatic cleaning cycle. The industrial 130Nm SPG XL motor then rotates the drum while high pressure spray nozzles clean the mesh. Meanwhile, the internal 5 bar 600W RVS flushing pump powers the wash cycle.

As a result, the filter maintains consistent performance with minimal manual intervention.

In addition, the integrated 80W high output stainless steel immersion UV C operates at 253.7nm. It helps control green water algae and harmful microorganisms. Therefore, pond clarity improves without the need for a separate inline UV unit.

Enlarged Biological Capacity and Advanced Aeration

The 30/40 Low Inline Pump Fed model features a significantly larger biological chamber than the 20/25 and 25/30 series. It has a suggested maximum capacity of approximately 200 litres of media.

For optimal performance, many installations use 100 to 150 litres of Hel-X moving bed media combined with several sheets of Japanese matting. This approach provides both dynamic oxygenated bio activity and stable static surface area for bacterial colonisation.

The unit is supplied without Hel-X or Japanese matting. Therefore, media must be purchased separately to match your pond’s stocking density and feeding regime.

To support the larger bio volume, the chamber is pre fitted with 4 x 300mm air bars. These ensure full oxygenation across the entire chamber and maintain constant media movement. As a result, dead zones are prevented and the risk of anaerobic bacteria forming is significantly reduced.

For reliable aeration in systems of this size, we recommend the Charles Austen ET120 airpump.

Finally, the 130Nm SPG XL drive motor features double seals to prevent leaks and protect against moisture ingress. Meanwhile, the control box manages drum cleaning cycles for reliable long term operation.
