The Filtreau Excellent Combi Drum 30/45 L Pump Fed is a high capacity combi drum filtration system designed for pump fed koi pond installations where strong mechanical performance and expanded biological capacity are required.
With overall dimensions of approximately 2254mm x 700mm x 1005mm, this long body model offers increased chamber volume and higher throughput compared to the 30/40 series. Because of its robust construction and industrial components, it suits serious koi systems and high turnover installations.
In pump fed configurations, this model supports flow rates of up to approximately 35000 litres per hour. Depending on stocking levels, it is typically suited for koi ponds in the region of 35000 litres, with higher ornamental capacity possible where stocking and feeding are lighter.
High Efficiency Mechanical Filtration with Integrated UV
At the centre of the system sits a 500mm x 400mm stainless steel drum fitted with a precision 120 micron screen. This fine mesh removes suspended solids before they enter the biological chamber. Consequently, the bio stage remains cleaner and more efficient over time.
When debris restricts flow, the stainless steel float switch activates the automatic cleaning cycle. The industrial 130Nm SPG XL motor rotates the drum while high pressure spray nozzles clean the mesh. Meanwhile, the internal RVS 5 bar 600W flushing pump powers the wash cycle.
As a result, the filter maintains consistent performance with minimal manual maintenance.
The integrated 80W high output stainless steel immersion UV C operates at 253.7nm. It helps control green water algae and harmful microorganisms, supporting improved water clarity without additional inline UV equipment.
Enlarged Biological Capacity and Media Configuration
The 30/45 L Pump Fed model features a large biological chamber similar to the gravity version. Most installations utilise between 150 and 200 litres of moving bed media for stable biological filtration.
For optimal performance, many systems use 100 to 150 litres of Hel-X 13 moving bed media. In addition, Japanese matting can be added in the static section for additional surface area and polishing.
The unit is supplied without Hel-X or Japanese matting. Therefore, media must be purchased separately to match your pond’s stocking density.
Because this chamber runs a significant volume of moving media, strong aeration is essential. For this model, we recommend the Charles Austen ET150 air pump to maintain proper oxygenation and continuous media movement.
The 130Nm SPG XL drive motor features double seals to prevent leaks and protect against moisture ingress. Meanwhile, the control box manages drum cleaning cycles for reliable long term operation.
