Our own Oase kit, based on combinations we regularly install: FiltoClear 31000 with 60 watt UVC and an AquaMax Eco Classic 11500 pump. We typically choose it for garden ponds up to around 10,000 litres, allowing extra filter capacity without automatically fitting a larger pump.

Not the Oase FiltoClear OC set with an AquaMax Eco Premium pump. Pond suitability depends on stocking and installation; koi ponds need separate sizing. Just add our 1.5 inch heavy duty flexible pond hose. Three hose clamps come with the filter and one with the pump, so no additional clamps are needed.

Oase FiltoClear 31000 Complete Filter Pump UV Kit

Our own Oase combination, selected for the ponds we build

A generous filter does not have to mean an unnecessarily powerful pump. For this kit, we have paired the FiltoClear 31000 and its integrated 60 watt UVC with the AquaMax Eco Classic 11500. It is our own combination of genuine Oase components, based on the systems we regularly install when building and improving garden ponds.

This is a That Pond Guy kit, not the Oase FiltoClear Set 31000 OC. The pump supplied here is the AquaMax Eco Classic 11500, not an AquaMax Eco Premium pump. Please compare the actual components when comparing prices with Oase’s official sets.

Just add the hose. Choose our 1.5 inch heavy duty flexible pond hose in the length you need for your pond. The filter comes with three hose clamps and the pump comes with one, so no additional hose clamps are required. Use 1.5 inch hose to match the connection on the pump supplied with this kit.

Our usual installation recommendation: garden ponds up to around 10,000 litres. We deliberately choose a larger filter than the pond would typically need, while selecting the pump for the circulation and return required. These are our practical kit recommendations, not Oase’s maximum pond ratings. Koi ponds and heavily stocked ponds need a separate assessment.

Complete kit saving: The package costs £834.99, saving £43.74 against buying the filter and pump separately at their current individual prices.

What is included in this filter, pump and UV kit?

The FiltoClear deals with suspended dirt, biological waste and green water inside one sealed pressure vessel. The AquaMax Eco Classic moves debris-laden pond water to the filter and can handle particles up to 8mm. Together they provide the three essentials most garden ponds need: circulation, filtration and UVC clarification.

Why we choose a larger filter for our installations

When we build or improve a pond, we prefer to give the filter some spare capacity rather than work right up to its published limit. More space for trapped dirt can help extend the time between routine cleans and makes the system more forgiving during busy periods of feeding or leaf fall. It does not remove the need for cleaning, and the interval will still depend on how much waste reaches the filter.

We size the pump for the pond, the hose route and the height of the return, not simply for the largest flow the filter can accept. Fitting a larger filter does not mean you must also fit a more powerful pump. The Classic 11500 is our choice for this combination; a long pipe run or a high waterfall may call for a different pump once the actual flow losses are allowed for.

Why these two Oase products work well together

The FiltoClear 31000 pressure filter

Inside the filter, different foam densities trap visible dirt and provide a large wetted surface for beneficial bacteria. The integrated 60 watt UVC exposes free-floating algae to ultraviolet light before the water continues through the filter. Because the vessel remains pressurised, the clean-water outlet can feed a raised return or modest waterfall rather than having to fall straight back to the pond.

Oase bypass technology directs water through the filter while helping to maintain flow as the foams collect dirt. The Easy-Clean handle and selector allow the foams to be compressed and dirty water to be sent to waste without dismantling the complete filter during every routine clean.

The AquaMax Eco Classic 11500 filter pump

The included pump has a nominal maximum output of 11,000 litres per hour and a maximum head of 3.3 metres. Its output will reduce once lift, hose length, bends and the filter itself are added. This is normal. The pairing leaves useful capacity for a practical pond installation while remaining below the FiltoClear’s stated maximum flow of 17,000 litres per hour.

The pump can be installed submerged or dry mounted in accordance with the Oase instructions. Environmental Function Control helps protect it if it runs dry or becomes blocked, and the large pre-filter cage allows normal pond debris to reach the filter rather than clogging a fine intake sponge.

Which ponds suit the FiltoClear 31000 kit?

For this complete kit, our usual recommendation is a garden pond up to around 10,000 litres, subject to fish stocking, feeding, sunlight and the flow actually delivered through the system. This is deliberately more cautious than the headline capacity in the filter name. It is not a koi pond rating: Oase’s maximum koi rating for the filter is 7,500 litres, and demanding ponds may need more filtration again.

Oase’s maximum ratings for the filter itself

The figures below describe the FiltoClear filter, not our recommended pond size for this pump and filter combination. Oase gives different limits for ponds without fish, ponds with fish and koi ponds:

  • Up to 31,000 litres for an ornamental pond without fish
  • Up to 15,000 litres for a pond with fish
  • Up to 7,500 litres for a koi pond

The 11,000 L/h pump gives this kit the strongest circulation of the three. A large or heavily stocked koi pond may still be better served by a flow-through or drum filter with greater biological reserve.

These figures are maximum manufacturer ratings, not a promise that every pond of that volume will perform identically. Direct sun, shallow warm water, heavy feeding, large koi, leaf fall and a long waterfall all increase the demand on the system. If the pond sits close to one of the limits, choosing the next size up normally gives a better margin and longer intervals between cleaning.

How the complete filtration process works

  1. Collection: The AquaMax pump draws water and suspended debris from the pond.
  2. UVC clarification: The built-in UVC treats single-celled algae that cause green water.
  3. Mechanical filtration: The filter foams trap suspended solids so they can be flushed to waste.
  4. Biological filtration: Beneficial bacteria on the media convert ammonia and nitrite as the filter matures.
  5. Pressurised return: Filtered water can return at pond level or continue uphill to a suitable watercourse or waterfall.

The UVC is designed to help with green water. It does not remove blanket weed attached to pond surfaces, and it does not replace mature biological filtration. A newly installed filter still needs time to develop its bacterial population.

Plan the hose and return before ordering

Hose is selected separately to suit your pond. Three hose clamps are supplied with the filter and one with the pump, so you do not need to buy additional clamps. The best diameter and length depend on the distance from pump to filter, the height of the return and whether the system feeds a waterfall. Use 1.5 inch hose to match the supplied pump, keep the route smooth and avoid unnecessary reducers because every restriction reduces the real flow reaching the filter.

  • Choose our 1.5 inch heavy duty flexible pond hose in the length needed for your pond, keeping bends and unnecessary restrictions to a minimum.
  • Secure the hose connections with the supplied clamps
  • Keep the pump accessible so the cage and rotor can be cleaned
  • Keep the FiltoClear control head, selector and cleaning handle above ground and easy to reach
  • Route the cleaning outlet to a safe drain or garden area where waste water cannot return to the pond
  • Use RCD-protected electrical supplies and follow the installation instructions for both products

Optional fitting pack: The product options include a set of three Oase stepped hose tails for the filter inlet, clean-water return and waste connection. Compatible quartz sleeves and UVC lamps are also available as useful service spares.

Cleaning and long-term care

As a practical guide, plan to clean the filter at least once a month. In summer, you may need to clean it every two weeks or more often. Every pond is different: fish stocking, feeding and the amount of debris reaching the filter all affect how quickly waste builds up. Treat these intervals as a starting point, not a reason to wait if the flow drops or the filter needs attention sooner.

Flush the FiltoClear before trapped waste badly restricts the flow. In summer, after blanket weed treatment or during leaf fall, that may be much more often than in winter. Use the cleaning mechanism to compress the foams and discharge dirty water, then return the selector to normal filtration before restarting the system.

Clean the UVC quartz sleeve, replace the lamp at the recommended service interval and inspect the pump cage and rotor. During the first weeks of use, and after any major clean, check ammonia and nitrite while the biological stage matures. A stocked pond also benefits from separate aeration, particularly in warm weather.

Common questions before buying

Does the kit include both the pump and UVC?

Yes. The AquaMax Eco Classic pump is included and the UVC is built into the FiltoClear lid. The filter includes three hose clamps and the pump includes one. Only the hose needs adding for the standard connection arrangement.

Can the return feed a waterfall?

Yes, within the pressure and flow available after the real lift and pipe losses are allowed for. A high or restrictive waterfall may require a different pump choice.

Can the filter be buried?

The pressure vessel can be partly buried as shown in the Oase instructions, but the lid, controls and service points must remain accessible.
