Nexus 220 Ti filtration with automatic cleaning built in
This bundle combines the Evolution Aqua Nexus 220 Ti with the matching Nexus Automatic cleaning system and a free genuine Nexus lid. It is intended for pond owners who want the proven mechanical and biological performance of a Nexus, but would like the routine cleaning sequence to take care of itself.
You can choose a gravity fed or pump fed version. That choice matters because the two installations use different automatic cleaning hardware. Select the layout that matches your filter installation and we will supply the correct system. The selected bundle is priced £250 below the normal combined component price.
What is included
- Evolution Aqua Nexus 220 Ti pond filter, complete with Eazy mechanical filtration, moving bed biological filtration and two integrated 36 watt Titanium enhanced UV clarifiers
- The correct Nexus Automatic cleaning system for the installation type selected above
- Free genuine Evolution Aqua Nexus lid
- All standard equipment normally supplied with the selected Nexus filter and automatic system
Not included: the pond circulation pump, media chamber air pump and site specific pipework. Leaving these out keeps the bundle price honest and lets you choose equipment that suits the actual pipe run, head height and filter position. Suitable options are linked below.
Why the Nexus 220 Ti and Nexus Automatic work so well together
The Nexus 220 Ti combines three important stages in one purpose built koi pond filter. Water first passes through the Eazy section, where suspended solids are trapped. It then moves through the aerated K+ media chamber, which provides a large protected area for beneficial bacteria. Two built in 36 watt Titanium enhanced UV clarifiers help control green water without requiring a separate inline UV unit.
The Nexus Automatic system takes over the normal cleaning sequence at programmed intervals. It controls the relevant pump, air and waste functions for the selected installation layout, helping the Eazy section to clean and discharge captured waste consistently. The standard programme is designed around a cleaning cycle approximately every three days and can be adjusted to suit the pond. Automatic cleaning reduces day to day intervention, but the filter, waste route and water level should still be checked regularly as part of normal pond care.
Choose the correct installation type
Gravity Fed: choose this when a bottom drain or suitable gravity line feeds the Nexus and the circulation pump sits after the filter. This option includes the Nexus 220 gravity fed automatic system, including its automatic inlet control equipment.
Pump Fed: choose this when a submerged or dry mounted pump sends pond water to the Nexus and the filtered water returns to the pond by gravity. This option includes the shared Nexus 220 and 320 pump fed automatic system.
If you are planning a new installation and are unsure which layout is right, send us a sketch or photographs before ordering. Gravity fed systems are normally preferred for a purpose built koi pond, while pump fed systems can be useful when adapting an existing pond.

Pond volume figures are a useful starting point rather than a promise of performance. Stocking density, feeding rate, sunlight, pipe losses and the required turnover all matter. For many koi ponds, aiming to pass the pond volume through the filtration approximately every two to three hours provides a sensible basis for pump selection, while staying within the Nexus maximum flow.
Choose a circulation pump and air pump
For a compact, controllable water pump, the Evolution Aqua Varipump 10000 is the natural match. Its output can be adjusted to account for pipework and head loss while keeping the actual flow within the Nexus 220 Ti limit of 10,000 litres per hour.
The moving bed also needs a separate air pump. The Evolution Aqua Airtech 75 is the normal choice with the supplied media load. If you later add more K+ media, consider the Airtech 95 or Airtech 130, depending on the final media volume and airline layout.
Plan the installation before ordering
- Allow enough space around the Nexus to remove the lid and reach every valve and connection.
- Provide a safe, unrestricted route for dirty cleaning water to discharge.
- Make sure the pond water level and refill arrangement can support repeated automatic cleaning cycles. An automatic top up is often helpful.
- Choose pipe sizes, valves and flexible connectors for the real installation rather than relying on a generic pipework pack.
- All electrical work and weatherproof connections should be completed by a suitably qualified person.
Compare the other Nexus 220 options
If you only need the filter, see the standard Nexus 220 Ti. If you already own a compatible filter, the automatic systems are also available separately as the Nexus 220 gravity fed automatic kit or Nexus pump fed automatic kit. For a package that also includes the water and air pumps, compare our Nexus 220 Ti complete filter, pump and air kit. Larger ponds can move up to the Nexus 320 Ti Automatic Filter Bundle.
Common questions
Does the bundle include the circulation pump and air pump?
No. Those items are deliberately separate so they can be matched to the real pond, pipe losses and media load. The recommended choices are linked above.
Does the Nexus 220 Ti need a separate UV clarifier?
Not normally. The filter already contains two 36 watt Titanium enhanced UV clarifiers.
Will the automatic system mean I never need to inspect the filter?
No. It automates the routine clean, but you should still check the filter, waste line, water level, media movement and pumps regularly.
Can this automatic system be fitted later?
Yes. Compatible Nexus 220 filters manufactured after 2006 can normally be upgraded, although this bundle is intended for customers buying the filter and automatic system together.
Compare the Nexus Automatic options
If you already own a Nexus 220, the correct Automatic upgrade depends on how the filter is installed. Choose the Nexus 220 gravity fed Automatic Cleaning Kit when the filter sits at pond water level. For a pump fed Nexus, use the Nexus pump fed Automatic Cleaning Kit.
You can also compare this bundle with the Nexus 220 Ti filter, the Nexus 220 Ti complete filter, pump and air kit, or the larger Nexus 320 Ti Automatic Filter Bundle.
