The Oase BioSmart 18000 Pond Filter Set is a complete, ready to install pond filtration system designed for medium sized garden ponds, ornamental ponds and lightly stocked koi ponds. Combining the Oase BioSmart 18000 flow through filter, Oase AquaMax Eco Classic 5500 pump and Oase Vitronic 18W UV clarifier, this set delivers mechanical, biological and ultraviolet filtration in one balanced system.
Because the components are correctly matched from the outset, the system ensures proper flow rates, effective green water control and reliable biological performance. As a result, it provides clear, healthy pond water with minimal ongoing adjustment.
The Oase BioSmart 18000 Set is suitable for:

Intelligent Filtration and Easy Maintenance
The Oase BioSmart 18000 filter provides multi stage foam filtration, including coarse, medium and fine foams. These layers trap debris while supporting beneficial bacteria that break down ammonia and nitrite.
The integrated Oase Vitronic 18W UV clarifier neutralises suspended algae and harmful microorganisms as water passes through, helping prevent green water and improving overall water clarity.
Maintenance is simple and user friendly. The patented EasyClean handles allow you to compress the filter sponges without removing them from the housing. Consequently, waste is flushed directly to the sludge drain via the slide valve at the base of the unit.
In addition, the lid features:
- An integrated pollution level indicator to signal when cleaning is required
- A built in thermometer for real time water temperature monitoring
For further biological enhancement, the system can be paired with the Oase OxyTex pond aerator, which can increase biological filtration efficiency by up to 25 percent through improved oxygen supply.
How the Oase BioSmart 18000 Pond Filter Set Works
Water is pumped from the pond by the Oase AquaMax Eco Classic 5500 pump. This energy efficient pump is capable of handling solids up to 8mm and delivers a maximum flow rate of 5500 litres per hour, with a maximum head height of approximately 2.8 metres.
Water then enters the BioSmart 18000 filter and passes through the layered foam media:
- Green coarse foam captures larger debris
- Blue medium foams provide mechanical and biological filtration
- Red fine foam polishes the water and supports nitrification
The Oase Vitronic 18W UV clarifier treats the water before or during circulation, neutralising algae spores and reducing harmful bacteria. Once filtered, water exits via gravity return through the DN 75 outlet back into the pond.
Because this is a gravity return filter, the unit must be installed above pond water level to allow natural return flow.
