The Filtreau Excellent Combi Drum 20/25 Low Version Pump Fed delivers high performance drum filtration in a compact footprint. It suits pump fed koi and ornamental pond systems where vertical space is limited.
Filtreau builds this unit using robust European components and industrial grade drive technology. As a result, you get reliable mechanical and biological filtration in one integrated system.
This model handles ponds up to 40000 litres depending on stocking levels. For koi ponds, we recommend it for systems up to around 20000 litres. For ornamental ponds with lighter stocking, it can comfortably support larger volumes. With a maximum flow rate of 20000 litres per hour, it maintains strong turnover and consistent clarity.
The Low Version stands just 750mm high. Therefore, it fits easily inside filter bays, sheds or purpose built chambers where a standard drum filter would not fit. If you run a pump fed system and cannot install gravity filtration, this model offers a practical and powerful solution.
Professional Mechanical and UV Filtration Performance
At the centre of the system sits a 400mm x 400mm stainless steel drum fitted with a 120 micron screen. This fine mesh removes suspended solids before they reach the biological stage. Consequently, less waste accumulates in the bio section and overall water quality improves.
When debris begins to restrict flow, the stainless steel float switch triggers an automatic cleaning cycle. The industrial 130Nm SPG XL motor rotates the drum while high pressure spray nozzles clean the screen. The integrated 5 bar 600W flushing pump powers this process. Because the system cleans itself automatically, it maintains performance with minimal manual intervention.
In addition, the unit includes an integrated 80W high output stainless steel immersion UV C operating at 253.7nm. This UV controls green water algae and reduces harmful bacteria. Therefore, you can maintain clarity without installing a separate inline UV unit.
Twin Biological Chambers and Recommended Media Setup
The Filtreau Excellent Combi Drum 20/25 Low Version includes a dedicated biological section divided into twin chambers. Together, they allow you to combine moving and static media for balanced biological filtration.
One chamber supports moving bed media such as Hel-X or Hel-X media. This section can hold approximately 100 litres of media. When supplied with adequate air, the media remains in constant motion. As a result, bacteria receive high oxygen levels and break down ammonia and nitrite efficiently.
The second chamber houses Japanese matting. This static media provides a stable surface for long term bacterial colonisation. In addition, it helps trap finer particles that pass through the drum stage.
The filter does not include Hel-X or Japanese mats. Therefore, you can select media based on your pond’s stocking level and feeding regime.
To operate the moving bed chamber correctly, you must supply adequate airflow. We recommend a Charles Austen ET80 air pump for this filter size. It provides consistent airflow and supports optimal biological performance.
The 130Nm SPG XL drive motor features double seals to protect against moisture ingress. Meanwhile, the automatic control box manages cleaning cycles and includes lid safety protection that disables the system when opened.
