The Filtreau Excellent Combi Drum 30/45 L Gravity Fed is a high capacity combi drum filtration system designed for gravity fed pond installations where strong flow rates and increased biological volume are required including auto top up.
Featuring a long, heavy duty footprint, this model measures approximately 2254mm x 700mm x 1005mm. Because of its extended body design, it offers greater internal chamber capacity compared to the 30/40 series while maintaining reliable mechanical and biological performance.
This model supports gravity fed flow rates of up to approximately 50000 litres per hour. Depending on stocking levels, it is typically suited for koi ponds up to approximately 45000 to 50000 litres, with larger volumes possible in ornamental systems.
High Efficiency Mechanical Filtration with Integrated UV
At the centre of the system sits a 500mm x 400mm stainless steel drum fitted with a precision 120 micron screen. This fine mesh removes suspended solids before they enter the biological chamber. Consequently, the bio stage remains cleaner and more stable over time.
When debris restricts flow, the stainless steel float switch activates the automatic cleaning cycle. The industrial 130Nm SPG XL motor rotates the drum while high pressure spray nozzles clean the mesh. Meanwhile, the internal RVS 5 bar 600W flushing pump powers the wash cycle.
As a result, the filter maintains consistent performance with minimal manual intervention.
The integrated 80W high output stainless steel immersion UV C operates at 253.7nm. It helps control green water algae and harmful microorganisms while supporting improved water clarity without additional inline UV equipment.
Enlarged Biological Capacity and Media Configuration
The 30/45 L model features a larger biological chamber than the 25/30 and 30/40 series. While an exact factory figure is not always published, most installations utilise between 150 and 200 litres of plastic moving bed media for effective biological filtration.
For optimal performance, many systems use 100 to 150 litres of Hel-X 13 moving bed media. In addition, Japanese matting can be added in the static section to provide further biological surface area and water polishing.
Because this chamber is designed to run a substantial volume of moving media, strong and consistent aeration is essential. For this model, we recommend the Charles Austen ET150 air pump to ensure the media remains fully oxygenated and in constant motion.
The unit is supplied without Hel-X or Japanese matting. Therefore, media must be purchased separately to suit your pond’s stocking density.
The 130Nm SPG XL drive motor features double seals to prevent leaks and protect against moisture ingress. Meanwhile, the control box manages drum cleaning cycles for reliable long term operation.
