The 30/45 Inline L gives a larger gravity-fed pond a long, narrow combi layout with substantial biological-media space. It handles up to 50,000 litres an hour and includes a 500 mm drum, internal wash pump and 80W UV-C.

Mechanical and biological stages arranged along the filter bay
The Excellent 30/45 Inline L Gravity is a useful choice when a filter area has length to spare but cannot accommodate a broad conventional combi. Its body is 2,254 mm long and 700 mm wide, with the mechanical and biological stages laid out along the flow path.
Unlike the Low Inline models, this is a 1,005 mm-high filter. The extra height and different media arrangement make it important to compare the actual installation dimensions rather than treating it as another version of the same low housing.
Automatic mechanical cleaning
The 500 mm-diameter drum uses a 120-micron screen to hold solid debris out of the biological sections. A level change starts the rinse cycle, turning the drum while the built-in cleaning pump supplies the spray bar. Collected waste is carried out through the discharge channel.
This is a gravity-fed filter: pond water reaches the drum before the circulation pump. Its maximum flow is 50,000 litres/hour, but the three 110 mm inlet branches must be capable of delivering the intended flow without excessive draw-down. Pump output should follow the behaviour of that complete circuit, not just the pump’s maximum setting.
A larger biological-media arrangement
The optional setup lists 200 litres of Hel-X and 4 m² of Japanese matting. Moving media needs consistent aeration and enough free space to circulate; the four fitted air bars need a separate air pump selected for the operating depth and media load.
One or two of our high-quality Japanese matting sheets can be selected as loose material. Each measures 1.2 Ă— 1 m, so two total 2.4 m² before cutting and are not a complete replacement for a 4 m² cartridge arrangement. Plan the static-media section with accessible panels and clear water passages rather than compressing the sheets into every available gap.
The integrated 80W high-output UV-C helps tackle green water while the biological media processes dissolved waste. Mature the media progressively and monitor ammonia and nitrite, especially when increasing feeding on a well-stocked koi pond.
Choosing the right Inline body
Compare the 30/40 Low Inline Gravity where height is restricted. For a wider drum and additional connections in the same general long format, look at the 50/65 Inline XL Gravity. If a pond pump will supply the filter from below, the correct corresponding model is the pump-fed Inline L.

Installation and access
Provide a level, fully supported base at the proper pond operating level and retain a service route along the body. Space for the UV assembly to slide out is easy to overlook when a narrow filter is placed close to a wall.
The optional 30/45 Inline trickle has its own flow limit and adds installed height. Plan its supply and the main return separately where needed. Follow the Excellent manual for safe maintenance and inspect the drum screen, nozzles and waste path through the season.
