Compact Low Height Inline Drum Filter for Gravity Fed Koi Pond Systems

The Filtreau Excellent Combi Drum 25/30 Low Version Gravity Fed Inline is a compact, high performance drum filtration system designed for gravity fed pond installations where height and chamber space are restricted. Built specifically for inline configurations, this model suits filter bays, built-in chambers and shallow installations where pipework alignment and low build height are essential.

Designed for ponds up to 70000 litres depending on stocking levels, this combi drum delivers strong mechanical and biological filtration for koi ponds, ornamental systems and large wildlife ponds. With a maximum flow rate of up to 35000 litres per hour, it supports demanding gravity fed setups with bottom drains and high turnover requirements.

The Low Version stands approximately 750mm high, making it ideal where a full height drum filter would not fit. The inline configuration ensures smooth pipework integration within gravity systems.

High Efficiency Mechanical Filtration with Integrated UV

At the centre of the system sits a 400mm x 400mm stainless steel drum fitted with a 120 micron screen. This fine mesh removes suspended solids before they enter the biological chamber. Because the drum separates waste at the earliest stage, it reduces load on the bio media and improves long term stability.

When debris restricts flow, the stainless steel float switch activates the automatic cleaning cycle. The industrial 130Nm SPG XL motor rotates the drum while high pressure spray nozzles clean the mesh. The internal RVS 5 bar 600W flushing pump powers the wash cycle.

As a result, the filter maintains consistent performance with minimal manual intervention.

The integrated 80W high output stainless steel immersion UV C operates at 253.7nm. It helps control green water algae and harmful microorganisms, supporting clear and healthy pond conditions without the need for a separate inline UV.

Balanced Biological Filtration and Aeration

The 25/30 Low Inline model includes a dedicated biological chamber designed to accommodate both moving and static media. You can install Hel-X or Hel-X moving bed media, along with Japanese matting if required. We recomend the Charles Austen ET100 airpump for this.

For ponds of this size, moving bed media provides efficient ammonia and nitrite breakdown when supplied with adequate aeration. The chamber includes integrated air bars, typically 2 x 50mm x 300mm, to keep media in constant motion and properly oxygenated.

Keeping the media moving prevents dead zones and reduces the risk of anaerobic bacteria forming. Consequently, biological performance remains stable even under higher feeding regimes.

The filter is supplied without Hel-X or Japanese matting. Therefore, media must be purchased separately to suit your pond’s stocking level and filtration requirements.

The 130Nm SPG XL drive motor features double seals to protect against leaks and moisture ingress. Meanwhile, the control box manages the automated cleaning cycle for reliable operation.
