BIG SCOPE NARROW is the longest-reaching spotlight in the classic In-Lite SCOPE range. It combines a powerful 444-lumen output with a tightly controlled 14-degree beam, allowing light to travel up to approximately fourteen metres in suitable conditions.

That makes it a specialist tool for very tall, slender trees, long trunks, columns and vertical architectural details. It looks similar to the standard BIG SCOPE, but the light effect is completely different: BIG SCOPE spreads across width, while BIG SCOPE NARROW carries a concentrated shaft much further upwards.

Where this In-Lite spotlight works best

This fitting is particularly well suited to:

• tall columnar trees and narrow mature specimens
• revealing a long trunk and upper canopy from several metres away
• vertical facade details, pillars and architectural features
• situations where intervening planting requires a concentrated long-distance beam
• combining several controlled beams around an extra-large tree

Good landscape lighting is usually layered. Combine a small number of carefully aimed spotlights with path, wall, recessed or planting lights rather than relying on one style of fitting everywhere. The aim is to reveal the shape of the garden and make routes comfortable to use without making the whole space uniformly bright.

Position the beam before fixing the cable route

Do not place BIG SCOPE NARROW immediately against the trunk. Position it several metres outside the tree and aim into the upper crown so the narrow beam can reveal the height and branch structure. On an especially large subject, use more than one fitting from different directions rather than trying to force a complete three-dimensional result from a single intense beam. Check the angle from upper-floor windows as well as from the garden.

We recommend testing the proposed position after dark with the cable still loose. View the light from the house, the main route through the garden and the principal seating area. Once the angle is right, mark the position and finish the cable route. This small trial prevents the most common problem with garden spotlights: a technically correct installation that shines into somebody’s eyes.

Installation and mounting

The pre-fitted ground pin is intended for soil, gravel or grass. Remove it to use the supplied bracket and fixing materials on suitable timber, brick or stone. The fitting includes a 0.6m cable and EASY-LOCK for connection to the In-Lite CBL system. Where planting blocks the beam, a RISER 1, RISER 2 or tree-mounted BRACE arrangement can lift the light source.

Control glare and protect the light effect

A 14-degree beam is visually powerful and must be aimed responsibly. Never point it towards neighbouring windows, roads or normal eye lines. Fit SHIELD 2 where the lamp is visible from the principal view. KILLFLASH 2 can reduce direct glare in a suitable wall or ceiling arrangement, but should not trap water on an upward-facing ground installation.

Connect it to the In-Lite low-voltage system

Connect the fitting to genuine In-Lite CBL system cable using the supplied EASY-LOCK. If the attached fixture cable cannot conveniently reach the main cable, use an In-Lite CBL-EXT CORD rather than improvising an unapproved joint.

The fitting must not be connected directly to the mains. It requires a compatible In-Lite transformer or SMART HUB. When sizing the transformer, add the VA load of every proposed light; do not total only the wattage. Leave a sensible capacity margin if the scheme may be expanded later and distribute the connected load appropriately between the available cable outputs.

Light quality, outdoor durability and maintenance

The integrated LED has a stated service-life indication of approximately 25,000 hours. The IP67 aluminium construction is designed for outdoor exposure, and CRI 92 provides high-quality light that keeps plants and natural materials looking convincing.

Keep the lens clean and make sure mulch, leaves and new plant growth do not cover the fitting or block the beam. Revisit the aiming as trees and shrubs grow. A well-designed In-Lite scheme is easy to adapt: fittings can be moved or redirected without rebuilding the whole cable network.

Choosing the right model

Choose BIG SCOPE for a broad canopy, multi-stem tree or wide facade section. Choose BIG SCOPE NARROW only when the subject genuinely requires exceptional reach and is relatively slender. For the more common medium tree or feature, SCOPE provides a less intense and more forgiving 25-degree beam.
