In-Lite CBL Two-Wire Garden Lighting System Cable

Genuine In-Lite CBL is the main low-voltage cable that carries power from the transformer through the garden. Compatible fittings can be connected at the required positions with their supplied EASY-LOCKs, so the lighting plan can be installed, extended and adjusted without a separate radial cable back to the transformer for every light.

The cable is two-core, flexible in low temperatures and designed around the In-Lite EASY-LOCK contact system. Cable gauge matters: the correct choice depends on the transformer, connected load, route length and whether a 12V or 21V SMART HUB-300 system is being designed.

Choose 14/2 cable for standard runs up to 40m

14/2 is the standard system cable for conventional 12V In-Lite installations with a maximum linear run of forty metres. It is available in different coil lengths, but buying a 200m drum does not make one continuous 200m electrical run permissible. The run limit is measured from the transformer output along the installed route.

Choose 10/2 cable for longer or higher-capacity routes

10/2 is the heavier cable for compatible longer routes. Current In-Lite guidance permits up to eighty metres laid linearly with HUB-50, HUB-100 and SMART HUB-150, and up to 160 metres with the 21V SMART HUB-300. The SMART HUB-300 requires 10/2 cable and has additional fixture compatibility limits, so check every light in that proposed circuit.

Cable length limits are not a substitute for a load calculation. Add the VA of the fittings and distribute the system sensibly between transformer outputs. On SMART HUB-300, also observe the 130 VA maximum on any individual line.

Lay the main cable as a serviceable linear route

Roll the cable out from the transformer and place it beneath paving or under a shallow layer of soil in accordance with the current installation guidance. It does not need to form a closed loop and must never be connected from one transformer output back into another. Finish every end using the correct CABLE CAP STANDARD or CABLE CAP MEDIUM.

Keep the route accessible where practical. Avoid burying connectors beneath permanent structures or placing the cable where later edging, planting or fence work is likely to cut it. Photograph or draw the finished route before covering it.

Connect fittings with EASY-LOCK

Each In-Lite fitting normally includes an EASY-LOCK. The correct cable guide holds the cable while the contacts pierce its insulation and the protective gel shields the connection. The fitting then plugs into the EASY-LOCK through its mini-connector.

Use an In-Lite CBL-EXT CORD where the small fixture cable needs more reach. This does not extend the permitted main-cable route; it sits between a fitting and its EASY-LOCK.

Verified system guidance

  • Cable construction: genuine flexible two-core In-Lite system cable
  • 14/2 standard maximum linear run: 40m
  • 10/2 maximum with compatible 12V HUBs: 80m
  • 10/2 maximum with 21V SMART HUB-300: 160m
  • SMART HUB-300 requires 10/2 cable
  • Install linearly; do not create a closed loop between outputs
  • Suitable for installation beneath paving or a layer of soil
  • Connect fittings with supplied EASY-LOCKs
  • Finish ends with the correct CABLE CAPS
  • Calculate transformer and individual line loads in VA

Plan the complete circuit before ordering

Choose the In-Lite transformer first, mark every fitting and cable route, then select the appropriate gauge and coil length. Browse In-Lite cables and connectors or contact us with the proposed lighting list and distances for help checking the design.
