Professional Mechanical Pre-Filtration for Koi and Ornamental Ponds
The Filtreau HF30 Drum Filter – Gravity Fed is a high-performance mechanical pre-filter designed to remove solid waste before it reaches your biological filtration system. Built in the Netherlands and equipped with the NEW XL SPG motor, this unit delivers reliable, automated drum filtration for koi ponds and ornamental ponds up to approximately 30m³, depending on stocking levels.
As a dedicated mechanical stage, the HF30 protects downstream bio filters by extracting fish waste, uneaten food and suspended solids at source. This significantly reduces maintenance and improves overall system stability.
Designed for gravity-fed installations, the filter sits at pond water level and connects directly to bottom drains or skimmers.
Automated Drum Cleaning and Flow Performance
Water enters the drum chamber via two 110mm inlets and passes through a precision stainless steel screen, typically available in 60 or 120 micron mesh. Solid particles are retained on the outside of the drum while clean water exits through two 110mm outlets.
As debris builds up on the mesh, the internal water level drops. A stainless steel float switch detects this change and activates the automatic cleaning cycle. The drum rotates while high-pressure spray nozzles rinse the screen, flushing waste directly to the 110mm waste outlet.
The NEW XL motor delivers 130Nm of torque and is fitted with a double lip seal to prevent leakage and ensure long-term durability.
The HF30 handles a standard flow rate of 20m³ per hour. When fitted with the optional high-flow panel, capacity increases to over 30m³ per hour, making it suitable for higher turnover systems.
Cleaning can be supplied via an external TIP cleaning pump or optional internal rinse pump configuration, depending on installation preference.
