The Filtreau Combi-NEXT Gravity-Fed with UVC and Internal Rinse Pump is a fully automated mechanical and biological filtration system designed for koi ponds up to 45m³, depending on stocking density and feeding levels. It combines precision drum filtration, a large moving bed bio chamber and an integrated 40W Amalgam UV-C module in one compact gravity-fed unit.
Water enters naturally at pond level via bottom drains or skimmers, allowing solid waste to be removed before it can break down. As debris accumulates on the 120 micron stainless steel drum screen, the stainless steel float switch activates the cleaning cycle. The NEW XL SPG motor delivers 130Nm of torque, ensuring smooth drum rotation even under heavier waste loads.
This version includes a built-in 5 bar internal rinse pump, meaning no mains water connection is required for cleaning. High pressure spray nozzles flush debris directly to drain, maintaining consistent hydraulic performance throughout the year.
We recommend using the Charles Austen ET100 Airpump with this filter system.
Biological Capacity, Media Requirements and UV Performance
The Combi-NEXT features a substantial 350 litre biological chamber. For optimal long-term performance, this chamber is designed to hold approximately 200 litres of moving bed media, typically Bio Carrier Hel-X 17.
At full maturity, 200 litres of Hel-X 17 is capable of processing roughly 1,200 grams of fish food per day under stable conditions. However, for correct aeration and movement, the chamber should be filled to around 70 percent of total volume to allow proper “boiling” action.
As part of our current promotion, this model includes 100 litres of media free of charge. This gives you half of the recommended biological capacity from day one, while still allowing space to expand to the full 200 litre load if required for higher feeding regimes.
The Combi-NEXT bio chamber is specifically designed for Hel-X 17. Some standard floating media types, such as Evolution Aqua Hel-X, may not be suitable as smaller pieces can pass through the internal grid system used in the NEXT series design.
In addition, the integrated 40W Amalgam High Output UV-C module operates at 253.7nm, suppressing algae spores, bacteria and harmful microorganisms as water passes through the system. This supports improved clarity, reduced green water and healthier pond conditions throughout the year.
