Filtreau RP PRO 5500SP Internal Rinse Pump
A dedicated replacement pump for the drum-cleaning circuit
The Filtreau RP PRO 5500SP is an internal rinse pump for a compatible Filtreau drum-filter installation. It supplies the cleaning circuit that washes trapped dirt from the drum screen into the waste channel. Choose this model when replacing an existing RP PRO 5500SP, or when fitting the matching internal rinse-pump option to a suitable filter.
This is the rinse pump sold separately. It performs a different job from the pond circulation pump: the circulation pump moves water through the filtration system, while the rinse pump supplies the drum’s cleaning spray during a wash cycle. Buying the correct spare lets you service the cleaning system without purchasing another complete filter.
Which Filtreau filters is it suitable for?
Our Combi-AFTER gravity-fed filter and Combi-AFTER pump-fed filter offer the RP PRO 5500SP as their optional internal rinse pump. This standalone listing allows you to order that pump separately.
For an existing filter, check the model on the fitted pump before ordering. Filtreau has supplied different internal rinse pumps across its ranges, including the separate Pro Inox 4500. A filter family name, a stainless steel pump body or the fact that a package includes a rinse pump is not enough to identify the correct replacement.
Owners of Combi-NEXT, Combi-2 and Combi 50XL installations should match the existing pump’s RP PRO 5500SP identification and connections. If the fitted pump has a different model number, send us a photograph of its label and the filter model so we can help you select the appropriate spare. The same check is particularly important for Excellent-series filters and newer packages with different cleaning-pump specifications.

How the rinse pump works within the filter
In a Filtreau drum filter, water passes through a fine screen that retains solid waste. As dirt accumulates, the filter’s level control initiates a cleaning cycle. The drum turns and the spray nozzles wash the retained material into the waste gutter, clearing the screen so normal filtration can continue.
The rinse pump is part of that cleaning process. A working pond circulation pump does not compensate for a failed rinse pump, because the two circuits have different functions. Equally, poor screen cleaning does not automatically mean the pump has failed: the spray nozzles, water supply, pipework and control system all contribute to a successful wash.
Checks before replacing your pump
Start with the exact identification on the existing pump and the filter’s instructions. Compare the connection arrangement and the space available in the installation. Check whether you are replacing a factory-fitted pump, a previously fitted optional pump or an independently modified cleaning system. Those arrangements can differ even where the filter name is the same.
If the spray has become weak or uneven, inspect accessible nozzles and the cleaning-water route for blockage before assuming that a new pump is required. If the pump is not starting, the filter’s controller, level switch and electrical supply also need checking. Carry out inspection only after isolating the equipment from its electrical supply, and leave electrical fault-finding to a competent person.
Installation and commissioning
Follow the instructions supplied with your filter and replacement pump. Preserve the intended rinse-water arrangement and reconnect the pump to the correct controlled outlet. Do not change the filter’s safety devices or controller settings simply to make a replacement operate. If the connections or electrical arrangement differ from the original installation, resolve that difference before switching on.
Once installation is complete and the correct operating water level is restored, use the filter’s manual cleaning control as directed in its instructions. Observe the spray across the screen and check that dirt and rinse water leave through the waste channel. Inspect the connections for leaks, then confirm that the normal automatic cleaning cycle operates correctly.
Looking after the cleaning system
Regular inspection helps you distinguish pump problems from other maintenance issues. Keep the waste gutter and outlet clear, inspect the screen and spray nozzles, and watch for changes in cleaning frequency. Increased rinsing can reflect a higher debris load, a restricted screen or a water-level issue; it does not by itself identify a defective pump.
Keep a record of the pump model and your filter’s model number alongside the operating instructions. That makes future servicing easier and helps you order the right replacement. For other components, browse our Filtreau drum filters and related equipment. If your installation uses an external cleaning pump, compare the separately listed T.I.P. pressure cleaning pump, checking its suitability for your existing arrangement.
