The Mini Garden Pond Kit is a simple and attractive way to enjoy a planted pond in a small outdoor space. Designed around a compact 55cm dark grey speckled bowl with an internal mesh planting shelf, it creates an instant decorative water feature without digging, pond liner installation or major landscaping work.

This kit is ideal for patios, balconies, courtyards, terraces, small gardens and planted borders where a traditional pond may not be practical. Simply place the bowl on a flat and level surface, add water, position the planting shelf and arrange the plants supplied with your chosen pack.

The bowl has a dark grey speckled finish with a subtle ridged texture, giving it a natural stone like appearance that suits both modern and traditional gardens. Please note that the bowl may appear slightly blue in some photos due to lighting, but the actual finish is dark grey and speckled.

A specially designed internal wire mesh shelf sits just below the water surface. This shelf is designed to hold 1 litre aquatic baskets securely, helping marginal pond plants stay upright and stable. This is especially useful in smaller container ponds, where baskets can otherwise tip over or move around too easily.

Seasonal Plant Packs

Depending on the option selected, the Mini Garden Pond Kit can be supplied as bowl and mesh only, or with a seasonal plant pack.

The Waterlily Pond Pack is best for sunny positions and includes a small 1 litre waterlily with seasonal marginal plants. The Deep Water Pond Pack is better suited to areas with more limited direct sunlight and includes a selected 1 litre deep water plant with seasonal marginal plants.

This mini pond kit is designed as a planted water feature rather than a fish pond. The compact water volume, shallow depth and internal mesh shelf mean it is not suitable for fish, and we do not recommend adding snails.

It is also not intended as a permanent frog habitat, although passing wildlife may still visit the water and planting. Bees, butterflies, hoverflies and dragonflies may be attracted to the flowers, foliage and water surface during the warmer months.

For best results, place the bowl somewhere bright with several hours of natural light each day. A sunny position is best for the Waterlily Pond Pack, while the Deep Water Pond Pack can be a better option for softer light or partial shade. Avoid placing the bowl where it will receive heavy leaf fall or intense reflected heat all day.

This option is best suited to sunny positions. It includes a small 1 litre waterlily for summer flowers and floating leaf cover, along with seasonal 1 litre marginal plants for structure, colour and height around the surface.

Care instructions

• Place the bowl on a completely flat, solid and level surface before filling
• Use rainwater where possible, as this is usually better for pond plants
• If using tap water, allow it to stand for around 48 hours before adding plants
• Position the waterlily or deep water plant on the base before inserting the shelf
• Carefully lower the mesh shelf into place once the bowl is filled
• Place the 1 litre marginal plant baskets into the mesh shelf so they sit upright
• Top up with rainwater during dry weather, as small container ponds evaporate quickly
• Remove fallen leaves, dead foliage and debris as needed
• Do not add fish or snails
• In freezing weather, allow ice to thaw naturally and do not smash the ice

Flowering period

Flowering will depend on the plants included in your selected kit.

Seasonal marginal plants may flower at different times from spring through summer, depending on the varieties selected. The Waterlily Pond Pack can provide summer flowers when positioned in a sunny, warm location with enough light.

The Mini Garden Pond Kit should be purchased as a planted decorative water feature rather than for a guaranteed flower display. Exact plant varieties may vary according to seasonal availability, plant condition and what is looking best at the time of dispatch.

Installation instructions

1. Position the bowl
   Place the bowl on a flat, solid and completely level surface. Make sure it is stable before filling, as it will be much heavier once full of water.
2. Fill with water
   Fill the bowl with rainwater where possible. If using tap water, leave it to stand for around 48 hours before adding plants.
3. Add the waterlily or deep water plant
   If your kit includes a waterlily or deep water plant, place it on the base of the bowl before adding the mesh shelf.
4. Insert the mesh shelf
   Carefully lower the wire mesh shelf into position so it sits securely just below the water surface.
5. Add the marginal plants
   Place the 3 x 1 litre marginal plants into the mesh shelf so they sit upright and stable.

This mini pond kit is designed for plants only. We do not recommend adding fish or snails because the water volume is too small to support them safely or sustainably.

Your plants on arrival

Plants included in the Deep Water Pond Pack and Waterlily Pond Pack are selected according to seasonal availability and plant condition at the time of dispatch.

The 1 litre marginal plants will arrive planted in aquatic baskets, ready to position into the mesh shelf. The deep water plant or small waterlily will also arrive planted and ready to place into the bowl.

Exact plant varieties may vary throughout the season. Images are for illustration only and show examples of how the kit may look once planted and established.

If ordering more than 1 of the same plant pack at the same time, the plant selection may be identical, as packs are prepared from the best available batch at the time of dispatch.

Dispatching your mini pond kit

Mini Garden Pond Kits are carefully packed to protect the bowl, mesh and plants during delivery. If your selected kit includes plants, these will be selected, watered and packed so they arrive in good condition.

As with all pond plants, the size, foliage and flowering stage will vary depending on the season. Plants supplied earlier in the season may not yet be in full growth or flower. This is normal and they should develop once placed into the bowl in suitable conditions.

If your order includes preorder plants, the full order may be held until all items are ready to dispatch. If you need certain items sooner, placing separate orders is usually best.

When your kit arrives, unpack it promptly. Keep plants moist and shaded until you are ready to set up the bowl. Do not allow aquatic plants or aquatic soil to dry out.
