SMART SCOPE TONE is an individually controllable RGBW garden spotlight for projects that need both high-quality warm-white light and selectable colour. Its aluminium body has the discreet shape of the SCOPE family, while the In-Lite app allows the fitting’s colour and intensity to be changed independently.

This is not simply a decorative colour-changing lamp. In its warm-white setting it can form part of the everyday garden lighting scheme; colour can then be introduced for entertaining, seasonal planting, an architectural feature or a temporary event. The focused 32-degree beam reaches around five metres in the supplier specification, with In-Lite describing useful application on different tree types and sizes.

Where this In-Lite spotlight works best

This fitting is particularly well suited to:

• specimen trees and feature walls that benefit from changing colour scenes
• outdoor entertaining areas where lighting mood changes through the evening
• seasonal displays, events and architectural accents
• projects requiring individual app control of a particular spotlight
• combining warm-white everyday lighting with occasional RGB colour

Good landscape lighting is usually layered. Combine a small number of carefully aimed spotlights with path, wall, recessed or planting lights rather than relying on one style of fitting everywhere. The aim is to reveal the shape of the garden and make routes comfortable to use without making the whole space uniformly bright.

Position the beam before fixing the cable route

Treat the warm-white scene as the foundation and use colour with restraint. One controlled accent on a tree, sculpture or wall usually looks more considered than turning every fitting to a saturated colour. Position the light a few metres from a tree so the beam opens into the crown, then check the effect in both white and coloured modes because different wavelengths reveal surfaces and foliage differently.

We recommend testing the proposed position after dark with the cable still loose. View the light from the house, the main route through the garden and the principal seating area. Once the angle is right, mark the position and finish the cable route. This small trial prevents the most common problem with garden spotlights: a technically correct installation that shines into somebody’s eyes.

Installation and mounting

SMART SCOPE TONE can be placed in soft ground on the supplied pin or fixed to a suitable hard surface using the bracket, screw and plug. It also includes the magnet used in its setup and reset process. Keep the fitting accessible because its aiming and smart commissioning may need to be revisited after installation. The supplied EASY-LOCK connects it to genuine In-Lite system cable.

Control glare and protect the light effect

Use SHIELD 2 when the source can be seen from a terrace, path or window. KILLFLASH 2 can reduce direct glare in appropriate wall or ceiling use, while RISER 1 and RISER 2 can raise the beam above low planting.

Connect it to the In-Lite low-voltage system

Connect the fitting to genuine In-Lite CBL system cable using the supplied EASY-LOCK. If the attached fixture cable cannot conveniently reach the main cable, use an In-Lite CBL-EXT CORD rather than improvising an unapproved joint.

The fitting must not be connected directly to the mains. It requires a compatible In-Lite transformer or SMART HUB. When sizing the transformer, add the VA load of every proposed light; do not total only the wattage. Leave a sensible capacity margin if the scheme may be expanded later and distribute the connected load appropriately between the available cable outputs.

Light quality, outdoor durability and maintenance

The integrated LED has a stated service-life indication of approximately 25,000 hours. This fitting must be used with a compatible In-Lite SMART HUB; allow 9.5 VA per fitting in the transformer calculation and confirm smart coverage across the proposed garden.

Keep the lens clean and make sure mulch, leaves and new plant growth do not cover the fitting or block the beam. Revisit the aiming as trees and shrubs grow. A well-designed In-Lite scheme is easy to adapt: fittings can be moved or redirected without rebuilding the whole cable network.

Choosing the right model

Choose the standard SCOPE or BIG SCOPE where fixed warm-white illumination is all that is required. Choose SMART SCOPE TONE where individual dimming and RGBW scenes justify the additional cost and the SMART HUB requirement. It is not compatible with the older HUB-50 or HUB-100 system.
