Filtreau Combi-AFTER Drum Filter with UVC and Rinse Pump – Gravity Fed

Long-format gravity-fed filtration with a built-in rinse pump

The Combi-AFTER Gravity with Rinse Pump is a long-format combi for a pond with bottom drains or skimmers supplying the filter before the circulation pump. It combines its own drum stage, biological section and 40W amalgam UV-C in a body just 570 mm wide.

Included media: this package comes with approximately 100 litres of moving-bed media. Allow for this included quantity before ordering any extra media; an appropriately sized external air pump is still required.

This version includes an internal pressure-cleaning pump. It gives you the AFTER layout without needing to specify a separate wash pump, while leaving the pond circulation pump and media air supply to be matched to the installation.

A combi with its own mechanical stage

Incoming water passes through a 120-micron drum screen that separates suspended solids. A level-operated rinse turns the drum and runs the internal wash pump, clearing debris through the spray bar and waste channel.

The biological section follows that mechanical separation. It is there to process dissolved fish waste on mature media, not to store the solids the drum has collected. The AFTER name does not mean another drum must be fitted ahead of this unit.

Moving media and UV-C

The 40W amalgam UV-C helps control green water, while the moving media supports ammonia and nitrite conversion. Media loading needs to leave room for circulation under aeration. Include any existing package media allowance when working out what further media, if any, to buy.

The fitted diffuser needs an external air pump with sufficient output at working depth. Keep fixed matting separate from the moving bed unless the installation has a dedicated static-media stage. Biological performance develops with maturation and feeding load, so water testing remains important after the new filter is installed.

Planning the long, narrow installation

The body measures 1,730 Ă— 570 Ă— 1,020 mm and has three 110 mm inlet branches and three outlets. Set it on a fully supported level base at the appropriate pond operating level. Allow room around the pipes for isolation valves and component removal.

The maximum flow is 30,000 litres/hour. Keep enough headroom for the supply lines and screen loading rather than selecting a pump that pulls harder than the pond can feed the filter. Balance the drain and skimmer branches as part of commissioning.

Compare the NEXT with internal rinse pump if a shorter, wider body suits the filter room. The AFTER without an internal wash pump is only the relevant alternative when a separate cleaning-water arrangement is intended.

Long-term servicing

Leave space above the lid and along the UV service route. Keep the waste channel and outlet easy to inspect and clear. Check the mesh and spray pattern routinely, with electrical equipment safely isolated before maintenance.

For water supplied by a pump from the pond, choose the pump-fed AFTER with rinse pump. The correct configuration is decided by the water circuit, not by which body looks easiest to connect.
