The Filtreau Excellent Combi Drum 25/30 Low Version Gravity Fed is a compact, high capacity filtration system designed for gravity fed koi ponds where installation height is restricted but performance cannot be compromised.
This low profile model delivers the same industrial grade mechanical and biological filtration as the standard 25/30 version. However, it features a reduced overall height of 750 mm, which makes it ideal for shallow filter chambers and tight installations.
Suitable for koi ponds up to 30000 litres and ornamental ponds up to 60000 litres, this unit combines automated drum filtration, twin biological chambers and an integrated 80 watt High Output UV clarifier in a single gravity fed system.
With a maximum flow rate of 25000 litres per hour, it provides strong and consistent turnover in medium to large koi ponds. The gravity configuration includes 3 x 110 mm inlets and 2 x 110 mm outlets, allowing connection to multiple bottom drains and skimmer lines.
An industrial 130Nm SPG XL motor rated at 60W 220V drives the stainless steel drum. A stainless steel float switch monitors water levels continuously. When the screen begins to restrict flow, the drum rotates automatically while the internal 5 bar RVS flushing pump activates. This cleaning cycle removes debris from the mesh and discharges waste directly to drain.
Biological Filtration and Media Configuration
The 25/30 Low Version Gravity model features twin biological chambers with a maximum combined media capacity of approximately 100 litres.
Because this is a true Combi unit, the biological section divides into two functional stages. The moving bed chamber typically accommodates 50 to 70 litres of Hel-X 13 or Hel-X media. This volume maintains sufficient void space to allow vigorous tumbling under aeration. As a result, the media supports high oxygen transfer and efficient ammonia and nitrite conversion.
To ensure the moving bed performs correctly, adequate aeration is essential. For this model, a Charles Austen ET100 air pump is strongly recommended. The ET1000 supplies sufficient airflow to keep the media properly agitated while maintaining optimal oxygen levels. Undersizing the air pump can significantly reduce biological efficiency.
The unit includes 2 x 50 x 300 mm air bars to distribute air evenly across the biological section. Biological media is supplied separately, allowing configuration based on stocking density and pond load.
The integrated 80 watt High Output UV operates at 253.7 nm, which is the optimal wavelength for controlling algae and harmful microorganisms.
Although this is the Low Version, it retains the same industrial drive motor, flushing pump and UV specification as the standard height 25/30 model.
