Arum Lily Crowborough
Classic white flowering marginal plant for elegant pond edges
Arum Lily Crowborough is a timeless and elegant marginal pond plant, perfect for creating a clean, sophisticated look around your pond or water garden. Known botanically as Zantedeschia aethiopica ‘Crowborough’ Crowborough, this variety is admired for its pure white blooms and lush, glossy green foliage that brings structure and contrast to any planting scheme.
Flowering from late spring into summer, this beautiful plant produces large white spathes that rise above the foliage, each centred with a soft yellow spadix. These striking flowers stand tall and proud, making them an excellent focal point along pond margins, in bog gardens, or within damp borders. Their simple yet bold appearance works equally well in modern landscapes and traditional garden settings.
The foliage is just as attractive, consisting of strong, arrow shaped leaves that form dense clumps. In mild conditions, the plant can remain semi evergreen, providing interest even outside of the flowering season. As it matures, Arum Lily Crowborough develops into a well structured plant that enhances the overall look of your pond edge while helping to soften hard lines.
This variety thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers consistently moist to wet soil, making it ideal for pond margins or shallow water planting. It can be placed in water up to 20 cm deep or grown in damp soil nearby. Once established, it is reliable and easy to maintain, making it suitable for both experienced gardeners and beginners.
Arum Lily Crowborough also supports wildlife by providing shelter and contributing to a balanced pond environment. While it offers some nectar to pollinators, its main appeal lies in its strong architectural presence and dependable performance.
Please note that all parts of the plant are harmful if eaten and may cause irritation, so care should be taken around pets and children.
