Oase BioTec ScreenMatic2 145000 Complete Filter Pump UV Kit
This is a properly matched Oase filtration system for large garden ponds, heavily stocked ornamental ponds and koi ponds where dependable mechanical filtration, strong biological capacity and flexible UVC output are all required. It combines the BioTec ScreenMatic2 145000 flow-through filter, AquaMax Eco Premium 21000 filter pump and a choice of Bitron Eco 120, 180 or 240 watt UVC.
Rather than buying three expensive components and hoping they work together, this package keeps the pump, filter and UVC within one compatible Oase system. It also leaves hose, pressure pipe, valves and return fittings out of the bundle, because those parts should be selected for the actual distance, lift and layout of the pond.
Complete kit saving: The 120 watt package is £3,599.99, saving £234.18 against the current individual product prices. The 180 and 240 watt choices replace the 120 watt unit and add only the displayed upgrade price.

Why the system works as a complete package
Automatic coarse-waste removal
The ScreenMatic belt removes leaves, algae and other coarse dirt down to approximately 300 microns before that material reaches the main foam stages. The belt advances automatically according to the degree of contamination and deposits the separated waste into an accessible basket. Removing this debris early reduces the amount that can break down inside the filter.
Mechanical and biological treatment
After the pre-screen, water is spread across 18 filter foams of different densities. These trap finer suspended particles and provide a large wetted area for beneficial bacteria. A further 14.5kg of specialist granulate increases the available biological surface. The result is a traditional, understandable biological filter with an automatic first stage that reduces the cleaning burden.
A pump with useful working headroom
The AquaMax Eco Premium 21000 is rated up to 21,000 litres per hour before lift and pipe resistance. The ScreenMatic2 145000 has a stated maximum flow of 17,500 litres per hour. In a real installation the pump output falls as water is lifted and moved through hose, bends and the UVC, so the nominal headroom is useful. The finished system must still be commissioned and the actual delivered flow kept within the filter limit.
Selectable high-output UVC
The Bitron Eco is the green-water control stage. Oase provides a direct connection option between the Bitron range and the ScreenMatic, producing a tidy installation with fewer unnecessary transitions. The 120 watt model is included in the base price. Choose 180 or 240 watts where pond volume, direct sunlight, fish load or the required clarity makes extra UVC capacity sensible.
Which Bitron Eco should you choose?
- Bitron Eco 120 W: the standard package for sensibly sized ponds with moderate sunlight and stocking
- Bitron Eco 180 W: a useful step up for larger water volumes, sunny positions or heavier fish loads
- Bitron Eco 240 W: the strongest option for the most demanding installations within the filter’s overall capacity
UVC selection is not based on pond volume alone. Sun exposure, water depth, flow, fish load and the clarity target all matter. A bigger UVC helps with suspended algae, but it does not compensate for inadequate circulation, an undersized biological stage or poor maintenance.
Pond-size guidance
Oase rates the BioTec ScreenMatic2 145000 for ponds up to 145,000 litres without fish, 72,000 litres with fish and 36,000 litres with koi. These are manufacturer maximums. For koi ponds, size from mature fish mass and maximum summer feeding rather than today’s stocking level. A smaller pond with heavy feeding can challenge a filter more than a much larger ornamental pond with only a few fish.
The system is particularly useful when a large pond needs high solids handling but the owner still wants visible, serviceable foam and biological stages rather than a fully automatic drum filter. If automatic 60 micron screening is the priority, compare the Oase ProfiClear Compact L kit.
Installation planning
This is a pump-fed flow-through system. The AquaMax pump sends pond water through the Bitron UVC and into the ScreenMatic filter. Water then returns to the pond by gravity, so the outlet pipe must be large, continuously falling and free from restrictions.
- Use suitable heavy duty pond hose or pressure pipe on the pumped side
- Install accessible isolation valves and unions around the pump and UVC
- Site the filter on a rigid, level base with space to remove the waste basket and clean the foams
- Provide a proper route for the DN75 sludge drain and cleaning water
- Keep the gravity return generously sized and avoid uphill sections or trapped air
- Add separate aeration from the pond air pump range where fish load and summer oxygen demand require it
Hose, pipework, valves and fittings are not included. Leaving them out keeps the kit price focused on the main equipment and avoids sending generic plumbing that may be unsuitable for the site.

Living with the system
The belt reduces day-to-day handling, but the filter still needs routine attention. Empty the waste basket, clean the foams before they become heavily restricted and flush the bottom drain. Keep the UVC quartz clean and replace lamps at the correct service interval. During the first weeks, test ammonia and nitrite and increase feeding gradually while the biological stages mature.
For a large pond or koi system, record the measured flow and normal water levels when the installation is new. A later change in those readings can reveal a dirty pump, blocked line or overloaded filter before water quality visibly deteriorates.

Common questions
Does the kit include pipework?
No. The correct diameter and length depend on the pump position, lift, UVC choice and return layout.
Does the ScreenMatic clean itself completely?
The belt automatically removes coarse waste. The basket, foams, drains and UVC still need planned cleaning and inspection.
Can it be used for koi?
Yes. Oase quotes up to 36,000 litres for koi, but heavy feeding and mature fish may require a more conservative working volume.
