Choose your Bitron Eco UVC

The 120 watt model is included in the base price. The 180 watt and 240 watt choices replace it and add only the stated price difference.

The Oase BioTec ScreenMatic2 145000 complete filter kit brings together the filter, controllable pond pump and UVC that we would start with when planning a serious flow through system for a large pond or a sensibly stocked koi pond. It removes the guesswork from matching three expensive pieces of equipment, while still leaving the pipe layout open for the installer to design properly.

At the heart of the system is the BioTec ScreenMatic2 145000. Its automatic belt screen removes larger waste before the water reaches the foam and granulate stages, helping the biological section work in cleaner conditions. The AquaMax Eco Premium 21000 supplies the circulation and the selectable Bitron Eco provides the UVC treatment.

Bundle value: The 120 watt package is £3,639.99, saving £194.18 against buying the three included products separately. The 180 watt and 240 watt choices retain a bundle saving of about £200 or more.

What is included

Why these parts work together

The pump has a nominal maximum output of 21,000 litres per hour, while the BioTec is rated for a maximum filter flow of 17,500 litres per hour. That is deliberate rather than an invitation to run the filter too fast. Real installations lose flow through lift, hose, bends and the UVC. Commission the system with a flow meter or a measured discharge test and regulate it so the actual flow through the filter stays within its limit.

The ScreenMatic belt catches leaves, blanket weed fragments and heavier suspended material before it is pushed deeper into the filter. Foam stages then provide mechanical and biological treatment, while the Bitron Eco is installed in the water circuit to control green water. The larger UVC options make sense where exposure to sunlight, fish loading or the required water clarity places more demand on the system.

Choosing the right size for your pond

Oase quotes a maximum pond volume of 145,000 litres without fish, 72,000 litres with fish and 36,000 litres with koi. Treat those as upper laboratory-style limits rather than a promise for every pond. Feeding rate, fish weight, direct sunlight, water temperature, turnover, filter maturity and the amount of debris entering the pond all affect the real capacity.

For a koi pond, work from the intended fish load and the measured flow after head loss. If the pond is heavily stocked, receives long periods of sun or needs very clear water, choose the stronger UVC and leave useful spare filtration capacity. Contact us with the pond volume, depth, fish stock and proposed pipe route if you want the combination checked before ordering.

Plan the installation before ordering

  • Use suitably sized heavy duty flexible pond hose or pressure pipe and avoid unnecessary restrictions. Fit accessible isolation valves and unions so the UVC, pump and filter can be serviced without draining the whole system. See our pond ball valves. Keep the return large and unrestricted. The filter is gravity return, so the outlet route must fall continuously back to the pond and must never be reduced below the filter manufacturer’s requirement. Provide a firm, level base with safe access to the waste outlet. The cleaning discharge must reach a suitable drain or garden disposal point. Allow a separate electrical supply with appropriate RCD protection and weatherproof isolation for the pump, UVC and filter controls. Consider separate pond aeration. Compare our pond air pumps and aeration kits rather than relying on the filter return for all oxygen demand.

Hose and pipework are not included. This keeps the kit price focused on the equipment and lets you choose the correct lengths, diameters, valves and fittings for the actual installation.

Commissioning and routine care

Start the biological filter before feeding heavily and test ammonia and nitrite while it matures. The automatic screen reduces routine work, but it does not remove the need to inspect the belt, clean the foam stages, flush waste and keep the return clear.

Quartz sleeves need to stay clean for the UVC to work properly and lamps lose effective output with age. Check the pump intake for leaves, confirm the measured flow after any plumbing change and never allow the gravity return to become restricted.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a complete ready to connect kit?

It includes the filter, pump and selected UVC. Hose, rigid pipe, valves, fittings, electrical work and the waste connection are chosen separately because their sizes and lengths depend on the site.

Why is the pump larger than the filter maximum flow?

The pump rating is measured before installation losses. Lift, pipe length, bends and the UVC reduce delivered flow. The finished system must be commissioned so no more than 17,500 L/h passes through the filter.

Which UVC option should I choose?

The 120 watt unit is the base package. Consider 180 or 240 watts for very sunny ponds, heavier fish loads, higher clarity expectations or installations where the UVC works hard for a long season.

Can it be used on a koi pond?

Yes. Oase gives a koi guideline of up to 36,000 litres, but heavily stocked or heavily fed koi ponds should be sized more conservatively.

Does the filter have to be above pond level?

It is a pump fed, gravity return system. The outlets must sit high enough for water to fall back to the pond without restriction.

Does it remove blanket weed?

The screen can catch loose fragments, but no filter prevents attached blanket weed on its own. Light, nutrients, circulation and pond management still matter.

Do I still need an air pump?

Usually yes for a stocked pond. Separate aeration protects oxygen levels in warm weather and supports the fish and biological filtration.

Can the pump run dry mounted?

The AquaMax Eco Premium can be installed submerged or dry in accordance with the Oase instructions. A dry installation still needs flooded suction and correct isolation.

How often does it need cleaning?

That depends on season and waste load. Inspect it frequently at first, then set a routine based on screen movement, foam condition, waste discharge and measured flow.

Can you check my proposed system?

Yes. Send the pond dimensions, fish stock, lift, pipe lengths and a simple layout so the turnover, UVC and return route can be reviewed.
