Oxygenator Pond Plant Pack
A carefully selected pack of potted oxygenating pond plants, ideal for adding natural cover, improving pond balance and supporting wildlife in UK garden ponds.
A simple way to add rooted oxygenating plants to your pond
The Oxygenator Pond Plant Pack is a convenient way to introduce a selection of hardy potted oxygenating plants into your pond without needing to choose each variety individually. Each pack is selected from our potted oxygenator range, giving you rooted aquatic plants that can be placed onto pond shelves, lower shelves or suitable shallow planting areas depending on the varieties included.
Potted oxygenators are different from bunched oxygenators. Instead of arriving as loose weighted stems, these plants are supplied rooted in aquatic soil or, in the case of 9 cm plants, ready to be repotted into aquatic baskets before placing into the pond. This makes them a great option for pond owners who want established plants with a stronger root system and a more natural planted appearance.
During active growth, oxygenating plants photosynthesise and release oxygen into the water during daylight hours. They also use nutrients as they grow, helping them play a useful role in a balanced pond ecosystem. This can support clearer, healthier water when used alongside sensible fish stocking, good pond hygiene, suitable filtration, aeration where needed and a varied mix of aquatic plants.
The Oxygenator Pond Plant Pack is particularly useful for wildlife ponds and natural garden ponds. Many potted oxygenators produce foliage close to the water surface, around the basket or just beneath the waterline. This creates valuable cover for tadpoles, froglets, newts, aquatic insects and other small pond creatures. Some varieties may form a low carpet, while others produce delicate foliage or shallow submerged stems.
This pack is ideal for new ponds, established ponds that need more planting, and ponds where you want to add extra wildlife cover around shelves and margins. It also works well when combined with bunched oxygenators, as the 2 types create planting at different depths. Potted oxygenators help provide rooted cover around shelves, while bunched oxygenators can be placed deeper in the pond.
Varieties are selected according to seasonal availability and plant condition at the time of dispatch. This means the exact plants included may vary throughout the year, but the pack will always be chosen from suitable potted oxygenating plants. Images are for illustration only and show examples of the type of plants that may be included.

Reasons to buy the Oxygenator Pond Plant Pack
This pack is ideal if you want to add oxygenating plants to your pond but are unsure which individual varieties to choose. Instead of selecting each plant separately, you receive a suitable mix chosen from available potted oxygenators.
It is also a good option if you want rooted plants rather than weighted bunches. Rooted potted oxygenators can be placed in a more controlled way and are often easier to position around pond shelves, planting zones and wildlife areas.
For wildlife ponds, this pack is especially useful. The plants provide cover close to the waterline, creating a safer habitat for amphibians and aquatic insects. This type of planting is valuable for tadpoles, froglets and newts, which often use shallow planted areas as shelter.
The pack also helps create a more natural looking pond. As the plants establish, they soften aquatic baskets, add texture beneath and around the water surface, and help make new ponds look more settled.
Pack options and what you will receive
Depending on the pack size selected, your Oxygenator Pond Plant Pack will contain one of the following:
• 3 x 1 litre potted oxygenating plants
• 6 x 1 litre potted oxygenating plants
• 6 x 9 cm potted oxygenating plants
This pack contains potted oxygenators only. It does not contain bunched oxygenators.
1 litre plants arrive pre planted in Finofil aquatic baskets with aquatic soil and slow release aquatic plant fertiliser. These can normally be placed directly into the pond.
9 cm plants arrive in solid nursery pots and must be repotted into aquatic baskets before being placed in the pond. We recommend using 1 litre aquatic baskets or larger, filled with suitable aquatic compost.
Varieties will vary depending on seasonal availability, plant quality and what is looking best at the time of packing. If you order more than 1 of the same pack at the same time, the contents are likely to be identical because all packs of that type are selected from the same available batch.
For a wider variety, consider choosing different pack types or placing another order later in the season.
Care instructions
Place potted oxygenators according to the depth shown on each individual plant label. Different varieties prefer different depths, so always check the care label supplied with your plants before positioning them.
As a general guide, planting depth is measured from the top of the basket to the water surface.
Start new plants in shallower water where possible, especially early in the season. This gives them better light while they establish. Once they are growing strongly, some varieties can be moved slightly deeper if suitable.
Potted oxygenators grow best in clear water with good light levels. Avoid placing them beneath dense waterlily foliage or a heavy covering of floating plants, as too much shade can slow growth.
Remove dead, loose or decaying foliage when needed. If you trim healthy growth, place the cut material beside the pond for around 24 hours before composting it. This gives small pond creatures time to return to the water.
Potted oxygenators are generally easy to care for, but koi, carp, goldfish and ducks may nibble or disturb them. Plant protection may be needed in ponds where fish or wildfowl regularly damage aquatic plants.
Flowering period
Flowering will vary depending on the oxygenating plants included in your pack. Some potted oxygenators are mainly grown for foliage and wildlife cover, while others may produce small flowers during spring or summer.
Because this is a mixed seasonal pack, it should be purchased for oxygenating foliage, rooted pond planting and wildlife habitat rather than for a guaranteed flower display.
Any flowering periods will be shown on the individual plant labels supplied with your order.

For general planting, allow approximately 5 x 1 litre potted oxygenators per square metre or linear metre, or approximately 3 x 2 litre plants per square metre or linear metre where larger plants are used.
Leave space between different oxygenating plants so that each variety has room to establish. Some varieties naturally spread more strongly than others, which is normal in a mixed pond planting scheme.
Potted oxygenators and bunched oxygenators
Potted oxygenators arrive rooted in aquatic soil and are usually positioned on pond shelves or in suitable shallow water areas. They often provide useful cover close to the water surface, making them valuable for amphibians, froglets and aquatic insects.
Bunched oxygenators are weighted stems that are normally placed into deeper areas of the pond, where they can sink towards the pond floor and root into the substrate.
This pack contains potted oxygenators only. No bunched oxygenators are included.
You do not always need both types, but they work very well together. Potted oxygenators create rooted cover around shelves and margins, while bunched oxygenators provide submerged growth lower in the pond.
Your plants on arrival
Your plants will be carefully selected from our potted oxygenator range according to the pack size ordered and the best available stock at the time of dispatch.
1 litre plants arrive pre planted in Finofil aquatic baskets using aquatic soil and slow release aquatic plant fertiliser. These can normally be placed directly into the pond.
9 cm plants arrive in solid pots and will need to be repotted into aquatic baskets before being placed in the pond. We recommend using 1 litre baskets or larger with aquatic compost.
Finofil aquatic baskets are made from 100% recycled plastic and are designed with a fine mesh that helps retain aquatic soil while allowing water to move around the roots. A separate hessian liner is optional and is not normally required for Finofil baskets.
Each plant will arrive with an individual care label, including guidance on planting depth and growing conditions.
Dispatching your pond plants
Pond plants are carefully selected, watered and packed to help protect them during delivery. As these are living plants, their size, colour and amount of visible growth will naturally vary throughout the season.
The Oxygenator Pond Plant Pack is normally available from April, although exact availability depends on seasonal growing conditions and nursery stock.
Plants dispatched early in the season may arrive with less visible top growth while they are still establishing. This is normal and does not mean the plants are unhealthy. Many aquatic plants establish better when dispatched before they are in full growth.
If your order contains ready to send plants and preorder plants, the whole order will usually be held until everything is ready. If you need available items sooner, it is best to place separate orders.
Upon arrival, unpack your plants promptly and check that the soil is moist. Place 1 litre plants into the pond as soon as possible. Repot 9 cm plants into aquatic baskets before placing them into the pond.
Do not allow aquatic plants or aquatic soil to dry out. If you cannot plant them immediately, keep them in a tray or bucket of pond water in a bright, sheltered position.
