Oase Sand Watercourse Elements

Build a sandstone-style stream with a spring, left curve or right curve

Oase Sand Watercourse Elements create a flowing-water feature using preformed sections with a natural sandstone appearance. The range offers a Spring section and two curved sections, allowing you to plan a route that suits your garden rather than relying on one fixed waterfall shape. Each section is sold individually, so select the pieces required for your own layout.

These are moulded watercourse elements made from weather-resistant polyresin. Oase specifies hand-applied colours and a finish intended to blend into a natural pond setting. The stone appearance provides the visual character of the feature; the supporting base, overlaps and water supply still need to be planned carefully to create a reliable working stream.

Choose the shape for your layout

Section Oase reference Length × width × height Net weight
Spring 50416 600 × 470 × 180mm 1.74kg
Left Curve 50414 750 × 500 × 180mm 3.14kg
Right Curve 50415 750 × 500 × 180mm 3.11kg

The dimensions and net weights above are the individual section measurements in Oase’s technical catalogue. They are useful for planning the space and support needed for each piece. They do not describe the finished length of a multi-section watercourse: allowing sections to overlap reduces the combined run compared with simply adding their individual lengths together.

Spring: the shorter 600mm section provides a source-style element for the beginning of a watercourse or a compact standalone arrangement. Check its footprint against the available bank or raised planting area and allow space to reach the water connection.

Left Curve and Right Curve: use these alternative shapes to plan changes in the water route. Compare their photographs with your intended layout before choosing. Trial-position the actual sections before making the supporting bank permanent, particularly if you are combining several curves or working around established planting.

Connections supplied with each element

Oase specifies a 32mm (1¼-inch) threaded connection, a plug and a stepped hosetail with each element. The manufacturer also states that each watercourse element can be used as a source. This gives you flexibility when deciding where to introduce the pump supply into the watercourse, rather than assuming that only the Spring model can accept water directly.

The thread designation is not an instruction to fit any hose labelled 32mm without checking it. Match the hose to the appropriate step on the supplied hosetail and follow the installation instructions for the chosen connection. Keep the water inlet and hose joint accessible until the system has been tested. Pump, hose and landscaping materials need to be selected separately for the installation.

Plan the water supply at the actual lift

Choose a pump around the height of the watercourse inlet above the pond or reservoir, the hose route and the flow you want to achieve. The output delivered to a raised feature will be lower than a pump’s headline flow at zero head. Compare the performance information for the Oase AquaMax Eco Classic 3500 E and account for the hose and fittings as well as the vertical rise.

A broad or forceful stream is not always the best result for a small receiving pond. Too much flow can produce unwanted splashing, while an unsuitable hose can restrict the supply. Keep the first running test adjustable and accessible so that you can judge the water pattern before concealing the hose or finishing the surrounding bank.

Support and overlap the sections carefully

Prepare stable support that follows the underside of each section and suits the ground conditions. Avoid leaving a moulded section unsupported across a hollow, and keep heavy landscaping stones independently supported. A bank that settles can change the angle of the section and redirect water towards an edge or behind the feature.

For a multi-piece arrangement, work out the height and overlap of every section before installing the final landscaping. Water from the upstream piece must land safely inside the next receiving area. Follow the supplied instructions for any sealing or liner arrangement, and check the actual fit of the parts rather than assuming that similar-looking pieces from another range will connect in the same way.

Test the complete route before finishing

Run the feature while all joints and connections can still be inspected. Check the inlet, each overlap and the final return into the pond or reservoir. Look for sideways escape, water tracking beneath the sections and splashing beyond the receiving area. Adjust the position or supply as needed before adding finishing gravel, plants or stones.

Include a stop-and-restart test. Water retained above the pond can drain back when the pump is switched off, so the receiving area needs space for normal drain-back. Keep the pump intake clear and retain a practical route for routine servicing; a neatly hidden installation should still be accessible when maintenance is due.

Care and alternative finishes

Remove leaves and other debris that could obstruct the water path or divert flow over a side. Inspect the support and overlaps during normal pond maintenance, and follow the product instructions for cleaning and winter care. If you prefer a pebble-style finish, compare the Oase Rockways Becka Falls Step. For a separate small waterfall design, see the Rockways Atlantis Single Step; choose each range on its own shape and connection requirements.
