In-Lite MINI SCOPE Compact 12V Garden Spotlight

The In-Lite MINI SCOPE is a compact 12V spotlight for low planting, shrubs, smaller trees, fences and pergola details. It produces a focused but relatively wide 36-degree beam, giving a practical reach of up to around three metres without the visual bulk or intensity of a full-sized tree spotlight.

It is one of the most useful fittings in a mixed garden lighting scheme because it can be installed in soft ground on the supplied stake or fixed to a suitable hard surface with its bracket. That makes it equally at home in a planted border, on a timber structure or beneath an overhang where a small adjustable accent is needed.

Where this In-Lite spotlight works best

This fitting is particularly well suited to:

• lighting shrubs, ornamental grasses and compact specimen trees
• highlighting foliage and flowers through the middle of a border
• accenting a small garden sculpture, pot or water-feature surround
• mounting on timber, brick or stone to light a wall or pergola detail
• creating layered pools of warm light without overpowering nearby planting

Good landscape lighting is usually layered. Combine a small number of carefully aimed spotlights with path, wall, recessed or planting lights rather than relying on one style of fitting everywhere. The aim is to reveal the shape of the garden and make routes comfortable to use without making the whole space uniformly bright.

Position the beam before fixing the cable route

MINI SCOPE works best when the whole beam is allowed to open before it reaches the feature. For a shrub or small tree, start a short distance from the base and aim towards the upper foliage rather than pointing straight up the nearest stem. For walls and textured materials, move the fitting closer for dramatic grazing light or further away for a broader, more even accent. Test the result from the main window, path and seating area before fixing the final angle.

We recommend testing the proposed position after dark with the cable still loose. View the light from the house, the main route through the garden and the principal seating area. Once the angle is right, mark the position and finish the cable route. This small trial prevents the most common problem with garden spotlights: a technically correct installation that shines into somebody’s eyes.

Installation and mounting

The package includes both a ground stake and a bracket. Use the stake in soil, gravel or grass; remove it and secure the bracket when mounting to suitable timber, brick or stone. The attached fixture cable is 0.6m long, so plan the system cable route before setting the exact fitting position. A CBL-EXT CORD can add up to three metres where the EASY-LOCK cannot sit conveniently near the light.

Control glare and protect the light effect

A visible LED can spoil an otherwise good lighting scheme. Turn the fitting so the source is screened by planting or the feature itself, or add SHIELD 1 to block the source from one direction. KILLFLASH 1 reduces direct glare in suitable wall or ceiling applications. Use RISER 1 or RISER 2 where foliage would otherwise interrupt the beam.

Connect it to the In-Lite low-voltage system

Connect the fitting to genuine In-Lite CBL system cable using the supplied EASY-LOCK. If the attached fixture cable cannot conveniently reach the main cable, use an In-Lite CBL-EXT CORD rather than improvising an unapproved joint.

The fitting must not be connected directly to the mains. It requires a compatible In-Lite transformer or SMART HUB. When sizing the transformer, add the VA load of every proposed light; do not total only the wattage. Leave a sensible capacity margin if the scheme may be expanded later and distribute the connected load appropriately between the available cable outputs.

Light quality, outdoor durability and maintenance

The integrated LED has a stated service-life indication of approximately 25,000 hours. CRI 93 is particularly useful around planting because greens, flowers, bark and natural materials appear much closer to their real colours than they do under a low-quality LED.

Keep the lens clean and make sure mulch, leaves and new plant growth do not cover the fitting or block the beam. Revisit the aiming as trees and shrubs grow. A well-designed In-Lite scheme is easy to adapt: fittings can be moved or redirected without rebuilding the whole cable network.
