The Filtreau Excellent Bio Drum 35 Pump Fed is a professional mechanical drum filtration system designed for koi ponds and ornamental water features up to approximately 35000 litres. It is engineered specifically for pump fed installations where an external pump delivers water directly from the pond into the filter.

Because this configuration does not rely on gravity feed, it offers flexible installation options. For example, it is ideal where the filter must sit above pond water level. At the same time, it maintains consistent and efficient mechanical waste separation.

With a maximum flow rate of approximately 35m³ per hour, this model provides reliable automated filtration for medium sized pond systems. However, it focuses purely on mechanical filtration. Therefore, it is designed to operate ahead of a separate biological filter such as a moving bed, shower filter or multi bay system.

By removing solids before they reach the biological stage, the drum significantly reduces organic load. As a result, the downstream bio filter remains cleaner and more efficient over time.

Precision Mechanical Separation with Integrated UV Clarification

At the centre of the unit sits a stainless steel drum fitted with a precision 120 micron stainless mesh screen. This fine mesh captures fish waste, uneaten food and suspended debris before they break down in the system. Consequently, ammonia spikes are reduced and overall water clarity improves.

As debris builds up on the drum screen, a stainless steel float switch detects the restriction. It then activates the fully automatic cleaning cycle. The heavy duty SPG XL drive motor delivers 130Nm of torque to rotate the drum. Meanwhile, high pressure spray nozzles powered by the internal RVS 5 bar flushing pump clean the mesh and flush waste directly to drain. Therefore, the filter maintains peak mechanical efficiency without constant manual cleaning.

In addition, the Filtreau Excellent Bio Drum 35 Pump Fed includes an integrated 80W High Output immersion UV C unit operating at 253.7nm. This UV system suppresses algae growth and reduces harmful pathogens as water passes through the chamber. As a result, it supports clearer and healthier pond water throughout the year.

After mechanical separation, water exits via 3 x 110mm outlets and flows to a separate biological filtration stage. Because the system separates mechanical and biological processes, you can size and configure your bio filter precisely to match fish stocking levels and feeding intensity.
