The Filtreau Excellent Bio Drum 100 Gravity Fed is a professional mechanical drum filtration system built for large koi ponds and demanding aquatic installations. It is designed specifically for gravity fed systems where the filter sits at pond water level and receives water directly from bottom drains.

With a maximum flow rate of approximately 100m³ per hour, this model suits koi ponds up to around 100000 litres. However, final capacity depends on stocking density and feeding intensity. Because the unit focuses purely on mechanical separation, it works best when installed ahead of a separate biological filter such as a large moving bed or multi bay system.

By removing solids at the earliest stage, the drum prevents waste from reaching the biological filter. As a result, the downstream bio stage operates more efficiently and remains cleaner over time.

High Flow Mechanical Separation with Dual UV Clarification

At the centre of the system sits a large stainless steel drum fitted with a precision 120 micron stainless mesh screen. This fine mesh captures fish waste, uneaten food and suspended solids before they break down inside the system. Consequently, ammonia spikes reduce and overall water clarity improves.

As debris builds up on the drum screen, a stainless steel float switch detects the restriction and immediately triggers the automatic cleaning cycle. The industrial SPG XL drive motor rotates the drum with 130Nm of torque. At the same time, high pressure spray nozzles powered by the internal RVS 5 bar flushing pump clean the mesh and flush waste directly to drain. Therefore, the filter maintains peak mechanical efficiency without manual intervention.

In addition, the unit includes dual 80W High Output immersion UV C units operating at 253.7nm. This increased UV capacity actively suppresses algae growth and reduces harmful pathogens across large water volumes. As a result, pond water remains clearer and healthier even in heavily stocked systems.

After mechanical separation, water exits via 4 x 110mm outlets. It then flows to a separate biological filtration stage. Because the system separates mechanical and biological processes, you can size the bio filter precisely to match fish stocking levels and feeding intensity.
