The Filtreau Excellent Bio Drum 60 Pump Fed is a professional mechanical drum filtration system designed for large koi ponds and ornamental water features. It is engineered specifically for pump fed installations where an external pump delivers water directly into the filter.

With a maximum flow rate of approximately 60m³ per hour, this model is typically suited to koi ponds up to around 60000 litres, depending on stocking density and feeding intensity. Because the unit focuses purely on high performance mechanical separation, it is normally installed ahead of a separate biological filter such as a moving bed or multi bay system.

This staged configuration allows the drum to remove waste before it reaches the biological stage. As a result, the downstream bio filter remains cleaner, more stable and significantly more efficient over time.

Precision Mechanical Filtration with Integrated UV Clarification

At the centre of the system sits a stainless steel drum fitted with a precision 120 micron stainless mesh screen. This fine mesh captures fish waste, uneaten food and suspended solids before they can break down within the system. Consequently, ammonia spikes are reduced and overall water clarity improves.

As debris builds up on the drum screen, a stainless steel float switch detects the restriction. It then activates the fully automatic cleaning cycle. The heavy duty SPG XL drive motor delivers 130Nm of torque to rotate the drum, while high pressure spray nozzles powered by the internal RVS 5 bar flushing pump clean the mesh and flush waste directly to drain.

The Filtreau Excellent Bio Drum 60 Pump Fed includes an integrated 80W High Output immersion UV C unit operating at 253.7nm. This UV system actively suppresses algae and reduces harmful pathogens as water passes through the chamber. As a result, it supports clearer and healthier pond water throughout the year.

After mechanical separation, water exits via 4 x 110mm outlets and continues to a separate biological filtration stage. This allows you to size and configure your bio system precisely to match fish stocking levels and feeding intensity.
