Our water-blade range is much broader than one rectangular spillway. It includes straight blades with 60 mm, 130 mm and 300 mm spouts, gravity-fed returns, corner blades, curved and angled vertical spouts, arc and jet waterfalls, water walls and spillways with deeper sides. A short 60 mm spout suits a blade mounted close to the face of a wall. The 130 mm spout gives more projection, while a 300 mm spout creates a bolder sheet that stands away from the structure. The longer the projection and drop, the more attention we give to wind, splash and the width of the receiving pond.

Pump-fed and gravity-fed blades are different products

A conventional blade uses pumped water to pressurise its internal chamber. A gravity-fed water blade is designed to accept a return from an elevated filter or header without a dedicated high-pressure feed. Its inlet capacity, water level and available drop must be designed as part of the gravity circuit.

The level of the blade matters more than the level of the brickwork

A water blade must be installed accurately level across its outlet. Even a small error makes one side of the sheet thicker. We also provide unions and cleaning access, because a trapped leaf or piece of sealant can spoil the flow long after the wall has been finished.

Choosing the Right Water Blade or Spillway

Straight water blades

Choose width from the visual scale of the wall and spout length from how far the sheet must clear the face. Wider blades need proportionally more delivered flow and a sufficiently large catch area.

Corner and curved features

The Corner Water Blade solves an awkward architectural detail, while the Arc Waterfall, curved vertical spouts and angled spouts create a more sculptural stream than a flat sheet. These products are chosen as design pieces as much as hydraulic outlets.

Gravity-fed filter returns

A gravity blade can turn a filter return into an attractive waterfall without sending the water through another pump. The filter outlet height and pipework must still pass the intended flow without backing the filter up.

Made-to-order stainless steel

Many products are available in several widths, side depths and inlet positions. Confirm dimensions before the wall opening is built. Stainless steel is durable, but it should still be cleaned with suitable products and protected from aggressive water chemistry.

Yes, especially with a purpose-made gravity-fed blade, provided the height and inlet capacity suit the filter flow.

Do curved waterfalls need the same flow as straight blades?

Not necessarily. Use the flow guidance for the exact product because the outlet shape and intended water pattern differ.

Should I build the wall before ordering the blade?

Order or confirm the exact blade dimensions and inlet first. Altering a finished opening is much harder than adjusting the design on paper.

How much flow does a water blade need?

It depends on blade width, spout design and the sheet you want. Use the maker’s flow guidance at the real lift height, not the pump’s maximum-flow label.

Why is the sheet thicker on one side?

The blade may be slightly out of level, the internal chamber may be dirty or the inlet may be feeding unevenly.

Can I install a blade high above the pond?

Yes, but height increases splash, noise, wind drift and pump head. The receiving area must be wide and deep enough to catch the water.

What is the difference between pump-fed and gravity-fed blades?

Pump-fed blades are pressurised by the pump. Gravity-fed spillways rely on a correctly designed header or filter return and need enough level difference and inlet capacity.

Does the water blade include a pump?

Usually not unless it is clearly sold as a kit. The pump and pipework are selected around blade width, lift and desired effect.

Can a stainless steel blade be used with chlorinated water?

Check the stainless grade, water chemistry and manufacturer guidance. Chloride exposure and poor maintenance can stain or attack unsuitable metal.

How do I reduce splashing?

Lower the drop, reduce projection or flow, widen the catch area and shelter the sheet from wind.
