TMC Pro Clear Replacement O-Ring Pack 5284
Two seal sizes for compatible TMC UV equipment
The TMC Pro Clear O-ring pack is a genuine replacement seal set identified by manufacturer reference 5284. It contains the 29.5 x 3mm and 29 x 4mm sizes used across compatible TMC UV units. The manufacturer’s photograph shows four rings with a model-selection card, allowing the appropriate pair to be selected for the equipment being serviced. This is a replacement seal pack, rather than a quartz sleeve, lamp or complete UV clarifier.
Small seals deserve careful attention during a UV service. The quartz sleeve separates the lamp from the circulating water, and its seals form part of that separation. When the unit is opened for cleaning or a lamp change, it is a sensible opportunity to inspect the rings and replace damaged or tired seals with the correct parts.
Identify your unit before ordering
Check the model label and the parts information for your UV before selecting this pack. The reference 5284 is more reliable than choosing a ring simply because it looks approximately the same diameter. The pack contains two different sizes; they are alternatives for the relevant application and should not be fitted together at one sealing position.
TMC’s selection card lists several Pond Clear, Pro Clear and Pro Pond models. Follow that card alongside the instructions for your particular unit when choosing between the thin and thick rings. If your equipment has been repaired previously, do not assume that the ring currently fitted is the correct specification. A model photograph and a clear picture of the dismantled connection can help us check which spare you need.
Models identified on the supplied TMC card
The card identifies the 29 x 4mm thick seal for Pond Clear Advantage UV15 and UV25, Pro Clear Ultima 30 and 55, and Pro Pond Advantage UV110 / Pro Pond Titan UV110. It also lists Pro Clear Advantage UV30, UV55 and Pro Clear Ultra 55 with both sizes marked, so check the original assembly and model-specific guidance when servicing those units. The included card should be retained with any unused seals.
Understanding the two sizes
The listed dimensions are 29.5 x 3mm and 29 x 4mm. Although the first measurements are close, the second measurements differ, so these are not interchangeable merely because they appear similar when laid on a workbench. Keep the two types separate until you have matched the required seal to the manufacturer’s guidance.
Comparing an old ring by eye can be misleading after it has spent a long period compressed in a fitting. Keep the removed parts for reference, but use the model and part identification as the starting point. If you cannot establish the correct size, check before reassembling the equipment rather than forcing a seal into place.
Preparing for a UV service
Follow your equipment manual and isolate the electrical and water supplies before opening the unit. Set out a clean working area where the glass sleeve and lamp can be supported safely. Keep the replacement rings away from grit and sharp tools while other parts are being removed. Photographing the arrangement before dismantling can be helpful when a service involves several similar components.
Inspect the sleeve and its seating surfaces while they are accessible. A replacement O-ring cannot repair cracked glass, a damaged plastic fitting or a distorted sealing surface. Address the cause of a leak as well as replacing a worn seal. Where several parts require attention, collecting the correct spares before starting helps keep the time with the equipment dismantled to a minimum.
Fitting and checking the replacement seals
The original Pond Clear Advantage instructions call for careful positioning of the O-rings on the quartz sleeve, hand-tightening of the compression fittings and a water leak check before the electrical supply is restored. They also specify new O-rings when carrying out the annual lamp change. Use the full procedure supplied for your own model, as access and assembly details vary across the TMC range.
Before closing the unit, check that each ring is seated evenly and that no dirt is trapped against it. A seal caught at an angle may not perform as intended even though the fitting appears to tighten. If the joint does not assemble naturally, stop and check the component selection and positioning. Extra force is not a substitute for the correct seal.
After restoring water flow, inspect the serviced area in its normal operating position. If there is any sign of leakage, isolate the system and investigate before switching the UV on. Keep electrical components dry and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for covers and connections. The pack supplies replacement seals; it does not alter the equipment’s installation or operating requirements.
Keep the spare parts together
Store unused rings in their original packaging with the selection card and part reference. That makes a future service easier and avoids mixing visually similar seals from different equipment. Keep a record of the unit’s model alongside any spare quartz sleeves or lamps, particularly if you have more than one UV unit in the pond system.
