Choose the correct bulb holder, quartz seal, locking nut or rubber end cap

These genuine Yamitsu replacement parts are for maintaining the lamp and quartz-sleeve assemblies on compatible Algae Master pond UV clarifiers. The selection brings together five small components that can look similar in a parts list but perform different jobs: two sizes of electrical bulb holder, a pair of quartz-sleeve O-rings, a locking nut and a rubber end cap. Select the component you actually need before ordering.

A bulb holder connects to the lamp, the O-ring seals around the quartz sleeve, the nut secures the sleeve assembly and the rubber end cap covers the lamp connection. Replacing one of these parts is not the same as replacing the complete electrical assembly, UV lamp or quartz sleeve. Those larger components are separate items. Use your clarifier’s model label and the original component as your starting point.

Match the holder to the individual lamp assembly rather than choosing by the overall size of a multi-lamp installation. Bulb holders and rubber end caps are different components

The bulb holder is the electrical connector used at the lamp. The rubber end cap is the protective cover around that connection. Both may be described informally as an end fitting, so inspect the part you are replacing carefully. A worn outer cover does not automatically mean that you need a new holder, and a damaged holder is not repaired by fitting a new rubber cover.

Order the quantity needed for your repair: the holders, nuts and rubber caps on this page are supplied individually. They are not a pair simply because the clarifier has an assembly at each end. The O-ring option is different and contains two seals. Keeping this distinction in mind helps you order the correct number of components in one delivery.

Quartz seals and retaining nuts

The quartz sleeve separates the lamp from the circulating pond water. Its seals and retaining nuts form part of that assembly. When inspecting a leak, check the condition and seating of the seal as well as the surrounding parts. A replacement O-ring cannot compensate for a damaged quartz sleeve, and a new retaining nut does not repair damaged threads elsewhere on the unit.

A pair of O-rings is a convenient replacement quantity for a single sleeve with a seal at each end. Multi-sleeve equipment requires the appropriate number of seals for every sleeve being serviced. Keep new seals clean before fitting, and compare the replacement with the removed part. Avoid mixing an unidentified seal from another appliance into the assembly just because its general shape appears similar.

Maintenance and safe reassembly

Follow the Algae Master instruction booklet for your unit. Isolate the electricity and water supply before maintenance. The manufacturer’s sleeve procedure includes draining the unit, carefully removing the lamp and sleeve components, refitting the O-rings and tightening the retaining nuts by hand. It then calls for a water leak test before completing the lamp assembly. Never operate a UV lamp outside its protective housing or look directly at an illuminated lamp.

Kockney Koi recommends competent electrical assistance for electrical work. If wiring or a lamp connection is damaged, arrange an appropriate assessment rather than attempting an improvised repair. Do not open the sealed electrical box: the manufacturer identifies no serviceable parts inside it. For a wider electrical fault, have the complete assembly assessed against the model and its service instructions.

Check related components during the service

Before restarting, check that the part selected matches the removed component and that every cover and retaining piece has been refitted correctly. Keep the service instructions beside you throughout the work. If you discover that the lamp or quartz sleeve also needs replacing, choose the correct size for the clarifier rather than assuming all Algae Master models use the same length.
