Oase Rockways Becka Falls Drop Cascade

A pebble-effect waterfall section for a natural-looking garden watercourse

The Oase Rockways Becka Falls Drop is a preformed watercourse element for creating a waterfall return or forming part of a longer garden stream. Its rounded, pebble-effect surface and hand-applied colouring give it an established appearance, helping the moving water sit comfortably among planting and the surrounding pond landscape. This is the Drop model, Oase reference 76635; it is a separate shape from the Becka Falls Step.

A preformed section provides a defined surface over which the water can travel. Rather than arranging every individual stone to form the fall, you can build the supporting landscape around the moulded profile. The finished result still depends on the position, support, pump and hose route, so plan the whole watercourse before installing the section permanently.

Becka Falls Drop or Becka Falls Step?

Choose the profile around the route you want the water to take. The Drop is one element in the Becka range; compare the separate Oase Rockways Becka Falls Step Cascade if you are planning a different stepped arrangement. The two names identify different products, rather than alternative sizes of the same moulding.

Oase describes the range as suitable for modular use. That gives you scope to plan a longer watercourse, but the layout must still be checked with the actual sections in place. Consider the direction of each outlet, the overlap between pieces and the height of the supporting bank. Do not assume that every waterfall from another range will form a watertight connection simply because it has a similar stone effect.

Appearance and outdoor use

The manufacturer specifies a robust, weather-resistant element with colours applied by hand. The pictured pebble-effect finish suits a natural garden setting, especially where the edges can be softened with suitable planting and surrounding stones. Hand-applied colour is part of the finish, so allow for the natural variation associated with a hand-finished product when planning the visual effect.

Positioning affects how the waterfall looks as much as the chosen section. View the proposed location from the places where you normally sit or approach the pond. Think about whether you want a prominent falling-water feature or a quieter-looking return among planting. Leave access for removing fallen leaves and checking the water route once the landscape has grown around it.

Planning the supporting base

Prepare a stable foundation appropriate to the site, following the installation guidance supplied with the watercourse. The section needs reliable support rather than being left to bridge a hollow in the bank. Soil that settles after installation can change the angle of a waterfall and allow water to escape over an unintended edge.

Trial-position the section before concealing its edges. Check the direction of travel from the intended inlet towards the pond, and make sure the final discharge lands safely within the receiving area. Keep surrounding soil and loose decorative material from washing into the water. Larger landscaping stones should have their own stable support rather than placing unnecessary loads on the waterfall shell.

For a longer stream, work through the height of each section as part of one layout. The upstream piece must deliver water into the next receiving area, with sufficient overlap and any sealing or liner arrangement required by the installation instructions. Test the complete route before finishing the bank or hiding the joints.

Matching the pump and hose

The Becka Falls Drop is the waterfall section itself. Plan the pump, hose and other installation materials separately. Browse our pond pumps when choosing the water supply, using the pump’s flow information at the actual lift required for your installation. The headline flow at zero head is not the same as the flow delivered to a raised waterfall.

Measure the vertical rise from the pond water level to the delivery point, as well as the hose route. Hose length, bore, bends and fittings also affect the delivered flow. Check the connection supplied with your section before buying matching hose and clips. An excessively restricted hose can reduce performance even when the pump itself appears large enough on paper.

Testing the watercourse

Run the pump while the installation is still accessible. Watch the inlet, the water path across the section and the final return to the pond. Look for water creeping behind the waterfall, escaping over a side or splashing beyond the receiving area. Adjust the support and flow within the equipment’s instructions before completing the surrounding landscaping.

Check the arrangement again after the pump has been switched off and restarted. Water retained in hose or elevated sections can return to the pond when the pump stops, so allow the receiving pond or reservoir enough space for normal drain-back. A running test should include the whole system, not only the visible waterfall surface.

Routine access and care

Remove leaves and other debris that could divert the water, and inspect the supports and joints during normal pond maintenance. Follow the supplied guidance for cleaning and winter care. Keep pump servicing access available, even if the finished watercourse is screened by plants. For a smaller sandstone-style alternative, compare our Rockways Atlantis Single Step Garden Waterfall and choose the appearance and profile that suit your planned layout.
