In-Lite MINI SCOPE DUO Adjustable Twin Garden Spotlight

MINI SCOPE DUO combines two independently adjustable MINI SCOPE light heads on a tall, separable 800mm stand. It is designed for layered borders where a single low spotlight would disappear behind foliage or illuminate only one height of planting.

Each head can be moved, swivelled and tilted separately. One beam can pick out lower leaves or flowers while the second reaches taller stems, an ornamental grass or a second nearby feature. The result is more flexible and visually richer than placing one very bright light at the front of the border.

Where this In-Lite spotlight works best

This fitting is particularly well suited to:

• deep borders with plants at several different heights
• ornamental grasses and perennials that change shape through the season
• lighting two neighbouring shrubs from one organised installation point
• raising the light source above low foliage to keep the beam clear
• creating a layered planting effect without two untidy independent stakes and cables

Good landscape lighting is usually layered. Combine a small number of carefully aimed spotlights with path, wall, recessed or planting lights rather than relying on one style of fitting everywhere. The aim is to reveal the shape of the garden and make routes comfortable to use without making the whole space uniformly bright.

Position the beam before fixing the cable route

Treat the two heads as separate accents rather than aiming both at exactly the same place. A good starting point is to direct one slightly across the foreground and the other towards a higher or more distant feature. Keep the heads out of normal sight lines and allow room for plants to grow around the stand. Because a border changes through the year, retain access to the clamps so both height and aim can be adjusted as foliage develops.

We recommend testing the proposed position after dark with the cable still loose. View the light from the house, the main route through the garden and the principal seating area. Once the angle is right, mark the position and finish the cable route. This small trial prevents the most common problem with garden spotlights: a technically correct installation that shines into somebody’s eyes.

Installation and mounting

The system includes a ground pin, two-part stand, two MINI SCOPE heads, cable clamps, cable organisers and a splitter. The components create a much neater elevated installation than assembling two ordinary spotlights around a loose pole. It is intended for stable placement in a soft substrate; push the ground pin into firm soil and organise the cables down the stand before making the system connection.

Control glare and protect the light effect

Position both heads so neither LED points towards a path, terrace or window. The compatible SHIELD 1 can screen an individual MINI SCOPE head from the main viewing direction. Good aiming is still the first step: use foliage and the direction of the border to conceal the source while leaving the illuminated plants visible.

Connect it to the In-Lite low-voltage system

Connect the fitting to genuine In-Lite CBL system cable using the supplied EASY-LOCK. If the attached fixture cable cannot conveniently reach the main cable, use an In-Lite CBL-EXT CORD rather than improvising an unapproved joint.

The fitting must not be connected directly to the mains. It requires a compatible In-Lite transformer or SMART HUB. When sizing the transformer, add the VA load of every proposed light; do not total only the wattage. Leave a sensible capacity margin if the scheme may be expanded later and distribute the connected load appropriately between the available cable outputs.

Light quality, outdoor durability and maintenance

Both integrated LEDs have a stated service-life indication of approximately 25,000 hours. The high CRI 93 output is well suited to plants and flowers, where accurate colour is more valuable than simply producing the brightest possible beam.

Keep the lens clean and make sure mulch, leaves and new plant growth do not cover the fitting or block the beam. Revisit the aiming as trees and shrubs grow. A well-designed In-Lite scheme is easy to adapt: fittings can be moved or redirected without rebuilding the whole cable network.
