Filtreau 40W Amalgam Submersible UV Unit is part of the Filtreau UV range and is designed to help improve pond clarity by exposing pumped pond water to ultraviolet light. A correctly sized UV clarifier is one of the most effective ways to deal with green water, especially when the pond is otherwise well filtered and the water is passing through the unit at a sensible flow rate.

UV treatment does not replace mechanical or biological filtration, but it supports the system by tackling suspended algae and reducing the amount of free floating microscopic growth in the water column. For best results, the UV should be installed where it can receive well filtered water, be isolated for servicing and be accessed easily when the lamp or quartz sleeve needs attention.

Choosing and installing this UV

Choose the UV model according to pond volume, fish stock, sunlight, pump flow and the level of clarity you want to achieve. Koi ponds and heavily stocked systems usually benefit from stronger UV sizing than lightly stocked wildlife ponds, while large filter systems need a unit that can handle the intended flow without creating unnecessary restriction.
