The quartz sleeve is the protective glass tube around the UV lamp. It keeps water away from the lamp while allowing UV-C into the treatment area, so both its condition and its fit matter to the unit’s performance and safety.
These options are for the matching 40W and 80W Filtreau amalgam systems. They are replacement sleeves, not complete UV units or replacement lamps. Check the existing unit reference and sealing arrangement before choosing a size.
Cleaning or replacement
Deposits on otherwise sound quartz can reduce the amount of UV reaching the water. Use the unit’s approved cleaning method and a soft, non-abrasive approach; replacement is not automatically necessary simply because the sleeve has a removable coating.
Cracked, chipped or damaged quartz must not remain in service. Isolate the UV system and replace the sleeve before restarting. Do not attempt to seal a crack or operate the lamp without its protective glass.
Match the exact glass and fittings
The supplier references are FS405 for the 40W amalgam sleeve and FS4051 for the 80W sleeve. Check the corresponding variation against the installed unit, including its length, end shape and seal arrangement. A sleeve for an Excellent stainless-steel HO module is not automatically interchangeable.
If you are unsure, send a photo of the UV unit label and the safely removed old sleeve. A clear identification check is better than forcing similar-looking glass into a housing and risking a leak.

Reassembly and related parts
Inspect the seals and fittings as part of the job, follow the unit’s assembly instructions and check for leaks before energising the UV. Avoid overtightening or using the glass to pull misaligned components into place.
