Three-lamp UV-C treatment unit with 75mm connections and an HDPE housing

The Filtreau UV-C Pro HDPE 315W is an enclosed UV-C treatment unit for larger ponds and aquaculture systems. Three 105W lamps provide a combined 315W output inside a high-density polyethylene housing. Filtreau specifies chemical-resistant and seawater-resistant construction, 75mm inlet and outlet connections and a maximum operating pressure of 3.0 bar. The manufacturer reference for this model is UVP0009.

This is a specialist range, so selection should consider more than the wattage printed on the unit. Pond volume, water quality, the flow through the UV chamber and the required treatment objective all matter. The manufacturer’s maximum pond-volume figures are useful starting points, but they are separate from its dose-rated flow specification. Check both before deciding which model belongs in your filtration system.

Filtreau’s 2026 catalogue lists all three models as suitable for ponds and swimming pools. For a koi pond, assess the UV unit as part of the complete filtration arrangement. A generous nominal pond-volume rating does not compensate for an unsuitable flow path, heavily contaminated water or an undersized mechanical filter. For aquaculture, swimming pools or another specialist installation, establish the required water-treatment specification with the system designer.

The stated dimensions describe the unit itself. Leave additional room for pipework, isolation arrangements and access when servicing the lamp and quartz components. A unit that fits between two walls may still be awkward to maintain if fittings or adjacent equipment obstruct removal. Plan the service space before fixing the plumbing in position.

The 75mm connection size should also be checked against your existing pipework. Nominal pipe sizes from different systems are not automatically interchangeable. Confirm the actual connection arrangement and suitable fittings before installation, and assess the pressure of the complete circuit against the unit’s 3.0-bar limit. The limit is a maximum operating specification, not a suggested target pressure.

Understanding the dose-rated flow figure

Filtreau gives a flow of 22m³ per hour at 30mJ/cm² for each model in its catalogue. For the 315W, use this published flow specification when planning the circuit. The higher lamp power does not increase the listed dose-rated flow: the three models share the 22m³/h figure, while their pond-volume guidance differs.

In practical terms, this means the pump and plumbing need to be considered together with the UV chamber. A pump’s advertised maximum delivery is not necessarily the flow reaching this part of an installed system. Pipe runs, fittings, elevation and other equipment affect the result. Establish the working flow through the chamber and use the manufacturer’s instructions when configuring the system.

How this UV stage works with pond filtration

The range uses industrial UV-C lamps operating at a stated wavelength of 253.7nm. UV-C treatment acts on water as it passes the lamp within the housing. It does not physically collect waste from the pond, and it should not be treated as a replacement for mechanical or biological filtration. Your pond filter still needs to remove suspended material and support the biological processes required by the fish population.

Servicing and identifying replacement parts

The manufacturer lists a 13,000-hour lamp lifespan. Keep a record of operating hours and follow its maintenance instructions; visible illumination alone is not a reliable measure of treatment performance. Quartz condition also matters because deposits can interfere with light transmission. Arrange access so routine inspection and cleaning can be completed without dismantling unrelated equipment.

The 315W uses three replacement lamps with Filtreau reference RLM0105, and the listed quartz reference is QSI0002. The HDPE construction makes this range relevant to more demanding water applications, but compatibility with a particular chemical or operating regime still needs to be established for that installation.
