What the seven tests cover

pH records acidity or alkalinity, GH measures general hardness and KH measures carbonate hardness. The remaining tests check ammonia (NH3), nitrite (NO2), nitrate (NO3) and phosphate (PO4). Record each result separately using the units shown in its instructions.

Taking a set of readings

Follow the directions for each test rather than using one procedure for every reagent. Sample volumes, mixing and reading times can differ. Keep the test tubes clean between uses and record the date alongside your results.

Replacing individual tests

Colombo offers the tests separately, so a used-up test can be replaced without buying another complete case. Match the replacement to the parameter you need and check expiry information before use.
