The Blagdon Affinity View Half Moon Pool gives a patio, courtyard, deck or compact garden the movement and interest of a pond without digging a hole. Its flat back sits efficiently against a wall or fence, while the curved front and three shatter-resistant viewing windows let you see the water and fish from a completely different angle.

It is supplied as a coordinated 133-litre system rather than an empty decorative container. The box includes the mocha-weave pool structure, fibre-reinforced liner, black anodised aluminium rails, planting basket, waterfall, three fountain display options and a Blagdon InPond 5-in-1 2000 unit providing circulation, filtration, UVC clarification, fountain movement and LED illumination.

This is the Affinity model we would normally look at first when floor space is tight or the pool needs to sit against a boundary. The straight rear edge uses space well, and the waterfall creates a particularly attractive view from a nearby seat.

What the InPond 5-in-1 2000 does

The included InPond unit keeps the installation much tidier than assembling a pump, filter, UV clarifier, fountain and light from unrelated parts. Water is drawn through the filter media, moved back into the pool and used to create the chosen display. The UVC supports the control of suspended green-water algae, while the biological media provide a home for beneficial bacteria once the system has matured.

The filter still needs care. Rinse mechanical media in a bucket of pond water rather than chlorinated tap water, preserve the biological media and check the impeller and fountain outlets whenever flow drops. A UV clarifier is not a substitute for sensible feeding, low stocking and regular water testing.

Planning the position before assembly

Place the pool on a solid, smooth and completely level base. At 133 litres, the water alone weighs about 133kg; the finished installation is heavier once the frame, equipment, planting and decorative materials are included. Check the capacity of raised decking rather than assuming it will be suitable.

Leave enough room to lift the InPond unit out, wipe the inside of the viewing windows and reach the waterfall connection. Keep the pool away from sharp objects, overhanging branches and places where roof water can wash debris into it. A little shade can moderate summer temperature, but deep shade may limit flowering pond plants.

Fish, plants and responsible stocking

Blagdon describes the 133-litre Affinity pools as suitable for fish and plants, but the volume is still compact. Choose only a small number of suitably sized ornamental pond fish, add them gradually after the filter has begun to mature and test ammonia and nitrite during the early weeks. This pool is not suitable for koi or for heavy stocking.

Condition all new tap water with a pond dechlorinator. Add plants for shade, cover and nutrient uptake, but keep enough open water for circulation and viewing. Browse our UK-grown pond plants and select compact species appropriate to the basket depth.

Do not add fish on the day the pool is assembled simply because the water looks clear. Clear new water can still contain chlorine and an immature filter cannot yet process fish waste.

Verified technical information

Outdoor electrical connection

The fixed outdoor equipment is supplied without an indoor three-pin plug. Use an RCD-protected outdoor supply and a suitable weatherproof connection, such as the Blagdon PowerSafe outdoor connector. Garden electrical work must comply with current requirements; use a qualified electrician where appropriate.

Which Affinity pool should I choose?

Choose this Half Moon when the pool will sit against a wall and you want the supplied waterfall. Choose the 141-litre Affinity View Octagon for a freestanding shape with access from several sides. Move up to the 400-litre Affinity Mocha Octagon when you have more space and want a substantially larger water volume and two planting baskets.

The Affinity pool is intended as an outdoor product. Follow Blagdon’s winter instructions and do not allow the pump/filter or water body to freeze solid.

How often should the filter be cleaned?

There is no fixed interval. Check it when flow drops and more frequently during warm weather, heavy feeding or leaf fall. Preserve beneficial bacteria by cleaning biological media gently in pond water.

Can it go on artificial grass?

Only if the substrate beneath is firm, smooth, load-bearing and perfectly level. Soft or uneven ground is unsuitable.

Are plants included?

No. One planting basket is supplied, but plants and planting media are separate.

Does clear water mean it is safe for fish?

No. Dechlorinate the water and test ammonia and nitrite while the filter matures.

Can I switch the fountain off but keep filtering?

Use the supplied fittings and the current InPond manual to configure the return. Do not switch off essential circulation for long periods when fish are present.
