Pond Bond adhesive and pond sealant for repairs and installation
A versatile adhesive and sealant for pond construction, maintenance and repairs, available in black and clear.
Pond Bond is That Pond Guy’s own branded modified polymer adhesive and sealant, suitable for pond liner repairs, pond window bonding, securing rocks and pond features, and sealing around pond fittings. It brings a range of everyday pond sealing and bonding jobs together in a single product.
The formulation can be applied above or below the waterline and can cure fully underwater. Our supplier confirms that Pond Bond is safe for fish and aquatic life during and after application, including underwater repairs with fish remaining in the pond when used as directed.
Available in 310ml cartridges, Pond Bond comes with a black applicator nozzle and screw cap. Choose black for a dark finish or clear where a less visible joint is preferred.
Pond construction, sealing and repairs
Pond Bond is suitable for a variety of pond building and maintenance applications, including:
- Pond liner repairs and patch bonding on compatible liner materials.
- Bonding and sealing pond viewing windows in suitable installations.
- Sealing around bottom drains and pond fittings.
- Securing rocks and decorative pond features.
- Construction and repair of waterfalls and water features.
- Localised repairs around compatible underwater pipework.
Its smooth consistency helps with controlled application and finishing. The formulation is primerless, although surfaces still need appropriate cleaning and preparation to achieve a reliable bond.
Compatibility should be checked with the exact material being bonded. Pond liners, plastics, coatings and painted surfaces vary, so test adhesion on a small area before starting the main repair or installation.
Underwater application and fish safety
Pond Bond can be applied and cured underwater and is suitable for permanent immersion, according to the supplier’s application guidance. This allows suitable repairs to be carried out without draining the entire pond.
The supplier expressly confirms suitability for application with fish present. This confirmation covers safety during application and after curing, rather than only describing the finished, cured material as fish safe.
Fish safety does not mean that a fresh joint has reached its final strength. Repairs and bonded components must remain stable and protected from movement while the adhesive cures.
Pond window installation
Pond Bond is suitable for pond window bonding and sealing, as confirmed by the supplier. A successful installation also depends on the window design, supporting structure, bonded surfaces, joint dimensions and curing conditions.
The adhesive should not be used as a substitute for a properly designed window rebate or supporting frame. Support the glass during curing and establish the appropriate curing period before filling the pond or loading the joint.
For window installations, contact us before application if you need guidance on suitability or curing arrangements.
Black or clear
Both colours are supplied in the same 310ml cartridge size.
Black is a practical choice where the joint will sit against a dark liner, black fibreglass finish or dark pond fitting. Clear is useful where a less visible seal is preferred, although the finished appearance will depend on the surfaces and thickness of the applied material.
Each cartridge clearly identifies its colour on the front of the label. Both versions include a black nozzle and screw cap.
Preparation and application
Remove algae, slime, dirt, grease and loose material from the bonding area. Surfaces must be sound and suitable for the intended repair. For underwater work, clean the area thoroughly before applying the sealant.
Use a suitable cartridge gun and cut the nozzle to provide the required bead. Apply the adhesive to the prepared surface, bring the components together and support them as necessary. Finish the joint before a skin forms.
Avoid squeezing all the adhesive out of the joint. The amount of material and joint arrangement should suit the particular application, especially when installing windows or bonding components that will carry a load.
Skin formation and curing
The supplier quotes skin formation in approximately 20 to 30 minutes at around 20°C, with a typical full cure time of approximately 24 hours under the stated conditions.
These timings are guidance rather than a guarantee for every joint. Temperature, moisture availability, bead dimensions and the materials surrounding the adhesive can affect curing. A surface skin does not confirm that the centre of a joint has cured.
Thick or enclosed joints, including some pond window installations, may require longer. Do not treat the quoted 24 hours as an automatic instruction to fill a newly built pond or load every type of bonded joint.

Storage and handling
Store between 6°C and 25°C in appropriate dry conditions and follow the expiry information on the cartridge. Replace the screw cap after use to help protect the remaining contents. The cap does not guarantee that an opened cartridge will remain usable indefinitely.
Avoid skin and eye contact. Wear suitable protective gloves and follow the cartridge’s health and safety instructions. The label warns that the product may cause an allergic skin reaction. Fish safety relates to the intended aquatic application and does not remove the need for normal handling precautions.
Clear information about performance
Pond Bond uses a modified polymer formulation rather than conventional silicone. Its application and fish safety information is based on the manufacturer’s documentation and written confirmation from our supplier.
We do not currently publish numerical tensile strength, hardness or elongation claims because verified figures for this exact formulation have not been supplied. We also do not claim that Pond Bond is stronger than named competing products or that it shares their formulation.
If you are unsure whether Pond Bond suits a particular liner, plastic, coating or installation, contact us before use.

Frequently asked questions
Is Pond Bond a silicone?
No. Pond Bond is a modified polymer adhesive and sealant. Pond sealants are often described generally as silicone, but the chemistry and application instructions can differ.
Can I use it underwater with fish in the pond?
The supplier information confirms underwater application and curing with fish present when used as directed. Surfaces still need thorough preparation and the repair must be protected from movement while curing.
Can I fill a new pond window after 24 hours?
Do not treat the quoted typical cure time as a universal filling instruction. Thick or enclosed joints may take longer. Confirm the correct curing arrangements for your glass, rebate and sealant joint before filling or loading the window.
Will it bond to every pond liner or plastic?
No universal compatibility claim is made. Check the exact liner, plastic, coating and surrounding material before use. A small adhesion test does not replace application specific suitability checks for a load bearing installation.
Can I save a partly used cartridge?
Replace the screw cap and follow the label’s storage and expiry instructions. An opened cartridge will not remain usable indefinitely.
Comparing pond sealants
We also offer Gold Label pond sealer and AquaForte Superstrong Fix & Seal. Check the instructions for the particular product and material before choosing. These are different products, and their cartridge sizes and application guidance should not be treated as interchangeable.
