Kockney Koi Universal Pipe Cleaner – 118ml
Prepare PVC, CPVC and ABS bonding surfaces before solvent welding
Kockney Koi Universal Pipe Cleaner removes dirt and oily contamination from the bonding surfaces of compatible plastic pipework. It is intended for PVC, CPVC and ABS pipes, valves and fittings, and is applied before the appropriate solvent cement. The 118ml tin includes a ball applicator inside the lid, allowing the cleaner to be applied to the surfaces that will form the joint.
This is manufacturer reference 001305, supplied as one 118ml tin. It is a preparation product for making a solvent-weld connection. It does not join the pipe by itself, repair a leaking joint or replace the cement required for the selected pipe material. Choose the cleaner, cement and pipe system together before starting work.

Where it fits into a pond plumbing job
A new filter bay often includes several pipe sizes, valves and changes in direction. Planning the arrangement first makes it easier to prepare each connection without rushing. Lay out the parts, check access to equipment and confirm the intended pipe route before opening the cleaner. The cleaning stage comes after you have established which parts fit together and before applying the specified cement.
For a waste-pipe installation, compare our Black Waste Solvent-Weld Pipe and Black Waste Straight Connectors. Select the correct sizes and identify the material of every part. The cleaner’s compatibility with several plastics does not mean that differently sized pipe systems become interchangeable.
Cleaner and cement perform different jobs
The cleaner is used to remove contamination from the area to be bonded. Solvent cement is the separate product used to make the joint. A clean surface is therefore one part of the preparation process, rather than a substitute for the correct fitting, cement or assembly method. Kockney Koi recommends using its universal cleaner with its PVC cement where that cement is appropriate to the installation.
Read the cement instructions as well as the cleaner instructions. A cleaner listed for PVC, CPVC and ABS does not automatically give a particular cement the same material compatibility. Check the cement’s own label against the actual pipe and fitting. If a pipe’s material or purpose is unclear, establish that before making a permanent connection.
Prepare the connection before opening the tin
Check the route, dimensions and orientation of the assembly. Allow enough room to reach the joint and to support the surrounding pipework while working. Keep the parts organised so that a bend or valve cannot be accidentally installed facing the wrong way. On an existing pond system, follow the equipment instructions when isolating the section being worked on and maintaining any circulation or aeration the fish still require.
Make any cutting and edge preparation required by the pipe manufacturer’s instructions before cleaning. Inspect the mating surfaces for damage as well as contamination. Cleaner cannot correct a cracked fitting, an incorrectly sized connection or a badly prepared pipe end. Resolve those problems before using consumables on the joint.
Using the lid-mounted applicator
The ball applicator is attached to the lid for applying the cleaner to the bonding surfaces. Follow the current product instructions for application and the subsequent cementing process. Keep cleaned surfaces free from fresh dirt and handling contamination while completing the preparation. Close the tin securely when it is not in use and avoid leaving it open while carrying out unrelated work.
Do not assume a universal drying, assembly or curing time. Those timings depend on the relevant product instructions and installation conditions. In particular, the cleaner’s application does not determine when a cemented connection can be returned to service. Follow the cement manufacturer’s curing guidance and the equipment instructions before restoring the system.
Handling and storage
This is a highly flammable solvent product. The manufacturer directs users to keep it away from heat, sparks, flames and other ignition sources, and to use it outdoors or with good ventilation. Avoid breathing vapour and use the protective equipment specified on the label and safety data sheet. Read those documents before opening the tin; they contain the full handling and emergency instructions.
Keep the cleaner in its original labelled container, securely closed and out of children’s reach. Follow the storage conditions on the supplied label and do not transfer it into an unlabelled vessel. Keep the packaging available so that the product can be identified accurately if advice is needed. Follow the stated disposal requirements for unused contents and the container.
Checks before ordering
Confirm that you need a bonding-surface cleaner, identify the pipe materials and choose a compatible cement separately. This 118ml tin is suitable for the preparation tasks listed by Kockney Koi; it is not a general pond-water treatment or a product to pour into a filter. Plan the job with the appropriate fittings, safe working space and enough time for the full assembly and curing process.
