Oase Telescopic Pond Nets

Choose a net shape, mesh and reach to suit your pond

These Oase pond nets combine extendable handles with a choice of net heads for everyday pond maintenance and carefully moving suitable fish. The range includes a folding triangular net, a rectangular net, a fixed triangular head and an extra-large round net. Each has a different balance of head size, bag depth and mesh, so you can choose around the job rather than simply buying the longest handle.

A net is particularly useful for collecting floating leaves before they reach the bottom, retrieving loose plant material after pruning and dealing with debris around planting shelves. For fish handling, choose a head comfortably larger than the fish and plan the transfer before starting. The dimensions below describe the net head; the separate total-length figure includes the extended handle and head.

All four models have telescopic handles. Oase lists a two-year guarantee, subject to its guarantee conditions. Select the required model from the options above; each option is one complete net.

Foldable: a deep net that stores neatly

The folding model has a triangular head and a deeper, 45cm bag. Oase describes it as suitable for catching and releasing small fish. Its 5mm mesh lets water pass through while retaining larger material, and its aluminium handle extends to 150cm. After use, the head folds for more compact storage. That is useful when a fixed net head would be awkward in a narrow shed or alongside other pond tools.

Open and secure the folding head before use, then check the netting is free of twists. Fold the head only after the net is empty and clean. The folding feature is for storage; keep it fully open when collecting debris or working with fish.

Rectangular: practical around corners and straight edges

The rectangular head measures 37cm by 30cm and has a 25cm-deep bag. Its shape makes it useful around straight pond sides and corners, where a broad curved head can leave an awkward gap. Oase specifies 4mm mesh and an aluminium telescopic handle extending from 70cm to 150cm. The maximum overall length is 187cm.

This is a practical option for a formal pond or for collecting leaves along a defined edge. Its protected rim helps reduce contact between the hard frame and the pond surface. Move the head gently around liner folds and baskets; a protective edge does not make forceful scraping advisable.

Triangular: an alternative shape for varied pond layouts

The triangular model has a 40cm by 41cm head, a 25cm bag and 4mm mesh. Its aluminium handle extends from 70cm to 150cm, giving a maximum overall length of 190cm. Oase identifies the flattened corners and protected edge as useful for cleaning work, as well as describing the net as suitable for moving fish.

When choosing between the rectangular and triangular models, consider the spaces between plants and the shape of the area you need to reach. Both have the same stated mesh size and handle range, so head shape and width are more useful deciding factors than a small difference in overall length.

Round Extra Large: a wider head and finer mesh

The extra-large round model has the widest head in this selection, at 56cm across, with a 32cm-deep bag. Its 2mm mesh is finer than the other three options and its handle extends from 90cm to 160cm. Maximum overall length is 216cm. Oase describes this model as suitable for larger fish and includes a protective rim.

Check that there is enough clear space to manoeuvre the head between plants, pipework and pond edges. A wider head also collects more wet material, so empty it frequently instead of filling it heavily. For a large koi, use an appropriate handling method and supporting equipment rather than lifting its full weight on an extended net handle.

Getting the best from your pond net

Work from a stable position and extend the handle only as far as needed. More length helps reach the water, but it also puts the load further from your hands. Check the telescopic lock before each session and take several light passes through floating debris. Empty collected material away from the edge so it cannot fall straight back into the pond.

For fish, prepare the receiving bowl or container first, wet the net and work calmly. Avoid chasing fish repeatedly or dragging a loaded net over coping stones. Keep the fish supported and the transfer short. Choose dedicated koi handling equipment where the fish size or the particular job calls for it.

Cleaning and storage

Rinse debris from the mesh and telescopic sections after use. Allow the net to dry before putting it away and inspect the bag, seams and rim for wear. Remove grit from moving sections before retracting the handle, and keep the net somewhere it will not be crushed by other tools. If you use equipment between separate ponds or quarantine systems, include cleaning and appropriate disinfection in your routine.

A dipping net collects solid material. It does not remove dissolved pollutants or replace water testing, filtration or a pond vacuum for settled sludge. Matching the tool to the task makes maintenance easier and helps you avoid disturbing more of the pond than necessary.
