Oase Algae Nets help you lift loose algae and small pieces of plant material from the pond. Both sizes use a rectangular collection head with 0.3mm mesh and an aluminium handle. Choose the Small model for closer work around accessible pond edges, or the Large Telescopic model when you need a wider head and an adjustable handle. Each option is a complete net with its handle.

The practical difference is reach and head size. The small net has a fixed handle and measures 113cm overall. The large model extends to a maximum overall length of 178cm, with a handle that adjusts between 74cm and 140cm. Overall length includes the head; it is not the same measurement as the handle alone. Compare these measurements with your pond layout before choosing.

Choosing the small net

The smaller rectangular head is useful where there is limited space between planting baskets, pond furniture and the edge. Its fixed handle keeps the choice straightforward: there is no extension to adjust, so check that its overall length gives you comfortable access to the area you want to clean. It is a sensible option for a small garden pond or for localised maintenance where you can move around the perimeter.

Measure from a safe standing position rather than from the very edge of the coping. A raised pond wall, a broad planted margin or a fence behind you can reduce your practical reach. The net should let you work without leaning across the water. If access is restricted, a longer handle may help, but it does not make an awkward or unstable standing position suitable.

Choosing the large telescopic net

The larger head covers more area in each pass and offers more collection space. The adjustable handle lets you shorten the net for nearby work and extend it when cleaning further out. Its maximum overall length is 178cm; allow for the angle of the handle and the height of the pond wall when judging how far into the water you will actually reach.

A large head is not always the easiest choice around closely spaced plants. Think about both the route into the water and the route back out with collected material. Work with manageable amounts and bring the net towards you before lifting it. This is more controlled than trying to lift a heavy accumulation at the furthest possible extension.

What the fine mesh is designed to collect

Oase specifies these nets for fine algae and plant remains. The small mesh openings retain finer debris than a coarse collection net, making them useful for gathering loose material during routine tidying. They provide a way to remove that material physically, rather than leaving it to move around the pond.

Choose your cleaning equipment for the actual task. These are algae collection nets, not a substitute for a koi handling net, a pond cover or a sludge vacuum. Using the net around plants and pond equipment

Make slow, deliberate passes through the loose material you want to collect. Avoid dragging the mesh across sharp stone, rough edging or exposed fittings. Around planting baskets, lift accessible debris without pulling at roots or trapping stems against the frame. Empty the net regularly so that you can see what you have collected and keep each lift manageable.

Check collected material for small pond animals before disposal. Keep removed debris where it cannot simply wash back into the pond. For the telescopic model, set the handle length and check that it is secure before reaching out over the water. When working close to pumps, cables or other electrical equipment, follow that equipment’s isolation instructions before disturbing it.

Cleaning, storage and replacement checks

Rinse debris from the mesh after use and inspect it for tears, trapped twigs or damage around the frame. Fine mesh needs to stay clear to remain useful: forcing a clogged net through the water makes the job harder. Allow the net to dry before storing it somewhere that protects the mesh from sharp tools and accidental crushing.
