QuickSticks provide a simple colour-strip check of pH, total hardness, carbonate hardness, nitrite, nitrate and chlorine. The pack contains enough strips for 50 water samples, representing 300 individual parameter readings.
They are ideal for regular screening, especially after heavy rain, a water change, filter maintenance, the addition of fish or any unexplained change in fish behaviour. A quick strip cannot replace a laboratory or high-resolution liquid test, but it can reveal the direction of a developing problem before it becomes obvious.

How to use it responsibly

- The kit does not test ammonia, which remains essential in a new or heavily stocked pond.
- Do not touch the reagent pads or store the pot open in damp air.
- Confirm any surprising or borderline result with a suitable liquid or digital test before making a major correction.
Calculate the real water volume after allowing for shelves, stone, pipework and filter chambers. If fish are distressed, oxygen is low or the water values are unsafe, stabilise the system before carrying out non-essential cosmetic treatment. Always retain the batch label and follow the current pack instructions, because formulation and regulatory directions can change.

Do the strips test ammonia?
No. They test nitrite and nitrate but not ammonia, so a separate ammonia test is required for a new filter, fish-health concern or biological crash.

Weekly testing is a sensible routine for stocked ponds, with extra checks after water changes, heavy rain, filter work, medication or unusual fish behaviour.
Why record the results?
