Norfine Small Pond Nets with 90cm Wooden Handles
These complete Norfine pond nets combine a fixed 90cm wooden handle with a choice of two head shapes: a rectangular head measuring approximately 25 × 23cm, or a round head approximately 30cm in diameter. They are practical options for close work around a small pond, water feature or holding container, where a much larger pan net or long extending pole may be awkward to manoeuvre.
Choose the head shape from the selector. Each option is one assembled net with its handle, rather than a spare net head that needs a separate pole. The dimensions matter more than a photograph: check the width of the space where you intend to work, the height of the pond edge and how far the net needs to reach. The 90cm figure describes the handle, not the total assembled length or a guaranteed working reach.
Compare the two options
| Option | Head size | Handle | Supply format |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rectangular | Approximately 25 × 23cm, also described as 10 × 9 inches | 90cm fixed wooden handle | Complete net and handle |
| Round | Approximately 30cm diameter, also described as 12 inches | 90cm fixed wooden handle | Complete net and handle |
The rectangular version corresponds to Oasis reference NF003 and the round version to NF004. Do not confuse either with a larger Norfine koi pan net or with the 1m-handle leaf nets listed separately. Head shape, handle length and mesh specification are separate choices; a net that looks similar is not necessarily the same model.
Choosing a head shape for your pond
A rectangular head can be convenient when working beside a relatively straight edge or within a small container. A round head gives an alternative outline for reaching between obstructions. In both cases, leave room to move the net without scraping it along rocks, exposed screws or sharp edging. Consider the route into and out of the water rather than only the open space directly above the pond.
Neither option is a pond vacuum or a substitute for a filter. A net collects material that its mesh retains; very fine suspended particles can pass through. For leaf collection, work in manageable passes and empty the net before a heavy load makes the handle difficult to control. Avoid dragging a full net through dense planting or levering the handle against the pond edge.
Working within a comfortable reach
A fixed wooden handle is straightforward to use because there is no telescopic joint to adjust. However, it does not extend. Stand on a stable surface and use the net within a reach that lets you remain balanced. If the far side of the pond is beyond comfortable reach, change position or choose a longer tool rather than leaning over the water.
For an alternative with adjustable reach, compare our Oase Telescopic Pond Nets. Those come in different head designs, so select the complete model appropriate to the task. If you specifically want the 25 × 23cm leaf-net format with a 1m wooden handle and a stated coarse or fine mesh choice, see the separate Norfine Wooden Handle Pond Leaf Nets.
Using a net around fish
Prepare your equipment and route before attempting to move a fish. Make sure any receiving container is suitable, secure and ready, then approach slowly rather than repeatedly chasing the fish around the pond. Inspect the mesh, frame and handle connection first. A damaged net should not be used simply because the tear appears small.
These are compact nets, and the head size does not establish a safe fish weight or lifting capacity. We would not choose them to lift a large koi. For koi handling, use appropriately sized equipment and a transfer method that supports the fish properly. Our Norfine Koi Sock Nets provide open-ended and water-retaining options to compare; the different styles need different handling techniques. Keep handling time short and avoid trapping fins against the frame.
Care between uses
Rinse away debris after use and check the mesh for snags. Allow the net and wooden handle to dry before storage rather than putting them away wet in a closed container. Store the net where the frame is not bent by other equipment and the mesh cannot catch on tools. Inspect the wood for splinters or deterioration before the next use.
When equipment is shared between ponds or holding systems, use an appropriate aquatic-equipment cleaning and disinfection procedure and follow the product label, including any rinsing requirements. Simply removing visible dirt does not establish that a net is ready to move between unrelated fish populations. Keeping separate equipment for a quarantine system can also make daily routines easier to manage.
What to check before ordering
Confirm whether you need the rectangular 25 × 23cm head or the round 30cm head, and remember that both have a fixed 90cm wooden handle. Check storage space as well as the intended working area. If you are replacing a particular mesh grade or colour, use the model specification rather than assuming every small Norfine net is identical. This listing includes one selected complete net; transfer socks, bowls and other maintenance equipment are sold separately.
